R50/53 Carrera 4S vs MCS
Carrera 4S vs MCS
This may be a first
. I was driving home a bit early from work here in Miami, and some hot shot guy in a dress shirt and tie pulls up in a new [but with a permanent license plate, so he wasn't still breaking-in in his car, I'm sure...] Carrera 4S. Picture me minding my own business, listening to my Citizen Cope album [it's mellow...he made the ridiculously groovy song "Son's Gonna Rise" that is in the new Pontiac G6 commercial] with the sunroof open and the windows down. The first light turns green, and I roll off from idle without even looking at hime, and he just jumps on it. He speeds to like 50 and is stopped by a red light 200 ft. away.
I pull up again. Still haven't looked at him. I roll from idle AGAIN and he takes off even faster this time [his upgraded stock exhaust screaming]
. I roll through the gears peacefully, he gets stopped again
. Imagine my horror, not! I still don't look at him, but I just grin and shake my head back and forth. The light turns green, he does the same thing. I did a nice civil 1500 rpm roll off [no clutch dump] to annoy him, and immediately he declares his desire to play with a good stomp
. I naturally can't have that. I go full throttle. I am half a car length ahead
. He looks pissed. But, it was too late. I shifted into second at 6250, and just pulled. One car length, and he just gave up, as I was still gaining. 60 hits, I slow down [so don't delete cause there were no illegal 'street racing' elements, the road has a 60 speed limit!], and he pulls off the road 2 miles later.
So, there you have it. Stock MCS [but not for long- Cosworth here I come!], S Lites, DSC _off_, and 1/2 tank [as I've posted before, my car will easily hit 15.3-4 for the 1/4 mile at 92] puts a guy in a shiny silver Carrera 4S to shame. He shouldn't mess with any more MINIs, now, much less those of seasoned pirates like myself
(Big Booty Racing [that booty is mine]). Nods to my TMMZ boys [High performance. High style. Low brow.].
REPEAT: I do _not_ street race. I think it is dangerous, and I love my car too much.
NOTE: He probably was not a great driver, and I will admit I know my car. But, I know he tried. Many times
. And, he wanted to go.
. So, yeah.

Funny!
Dude, that guy was playing with you!!!
One of my friends got a 2005 4S 2 weeks ago, and we went for a little drive together (each in our cars) and let me tell you:
This car will MOLEST an MCS (probably even a twincharged one)
- in the curves
- acceleration
- braking
- whatever else you can think of...
the slight advantage a mini would have would be the weight to get off the line, but this beast is AWD so forget about it...

I don't deny he should have molested me, but, again, I said this would probably be a first. He looked a bit displeased, so I can only surmise that his little game did not go as he wished. As an aside, my father has an '02 Carrera, which [down 35 or so horses from the new one, I believe] is quite a fast car. I know first-hand what a Carrera sounds like full throttle. Maybe the guy shifts like molasses, maybe he lacks skill, but the point is moot- he had a go and ate some humble pie
. Cheers!

, and then pulled off of the road after following me for a couple of miles. Either way, the MCS in the hands of a good driver is competitive with most cars driven by normal drivers. Anyways, it was a good go, a good day, and shame on those who think that our MINIs can't defeat goliath every once in a while!
. Sir Zip [my car] stood up for MINIs everywhere today. I think I should should by him a drink. Maybe 100 octane tomorrow? PS: I don't lie. I have no reason to.

ingsoc good job, I dont doubt your tale one bit. I've seen MINIS ***** slap cars of all types. People can compare numbers to numbers all they want, those are the people that always get smoked, regardless of what they drive.
It definitely doesnt surprise me though, to see people here who have no idea of their car's capabilities.

alrighty then!
I know numbers are not everything, but they are not nothing either...
I'm so scared that this site becomes like all the others, about people claming:
"I kicked that F60's butt with my turbo camry" and so on...
Lets look at some quick facts (from the people that build them):
05 MCS: 168HP 2679lbs --> 15.94 lbs per HP --> 0-60 in 7.2
05 P4S: 320HP 3296lbs --> 10.3 lbs per HP --> 0-60 in 5.1
Dont get me wrong, I think my MCS can surprise ALOT of drivers (just surprised a 2005 boxter on the highway a couple of hours ago just by keeping up
) but it's no dragster...
SO!
I'm not saying your a liar... but I beleive in physics, and physics say that he has a power to weight ratio that's 50% higher that our MCS + all wheel drive to put that power to the ground.
He was either playing with you, or learning to drive a stick for the first time...

btw.. Onasled drives a MINI Cooper S.
Cobra replicas are VERY rarely 427's. They are mostly mustang 302's and on occasion you will get the freak with a 351 windsor
.
Also, who says the guy in the cobra was flooring it? If you want I can show you a video of me riding a tricycle passing a SR-71 Blackbird
again, physics are physics.

! And, my "turbo camry" is just vaporware, pure and simple. Glad that you cleared that up. NAM is certainly safer now that you've saved it
.One thing, though, I cannot figure out: how exactly could we hurt the NAM atmosphere that much by sitting back and having a laugh about life every once in a while? GASP: I love my MINI enough to brag about it like it was my kid. Sure, the moon was perfectly aligned, my little engine knew it could, SOMETHING/ANYTHING. I could care less. Truth is, I had a great time. I was having a great day. Now, I'll be far less likely to post of my endeavors here from now on. Thanks for setting me right. Kill-joy.

Ingsoc initiated the attack.. this means he was in proper gear, he was anticipating the forthcoming events, HE had the advantage. He gunned it, most likely had a headstart due to either surprise, or the Porsche guy in the wrong gear. All ingsoc needs is 2 seconds of a headstart and the Porsche isnt going to catch him until well over 70mph. I have beaten cars like this, and have also been beat like this.
Physics is one thing... but wrongly calculated physics without all the variables is another.
I'm hoenstly sorry if I ruined your day, that was not my intention. I was just giving an example of what I have seen on other car oriented web sites with the F60 example, it was not supposed to be a direct comparaison.
My point was that these stories tend to degenerate very rapidly into pure fictional situations, and I dont think anyone here wants that.
I found it odd that you claim that you KNEW the guy was really racing and you beat him.
If it made your day, then good or you
knowing that I could almost keep up with that new boxter (non-S) which is MUCH slower then a 911 4S made my day.

Watch the videos...
Onasled drives quite the line, others don't and aren't as smooth. No matter what you brung, that will be the death of good lap times. I was on a track with this little mid 50s Alfa Romeo, 1300cc, about 150 HP, and very few of the cars in his class (novice, at a Shelby car club event at Infineon) could pass, many with triple the HP. Following him through the turns was one of the best lessons I've ever had in my life.
Look at more Cobras. Factory Five's are usually 302s, but Superformance and others usually not...
The data is there, no need to hypothisize!
Matt

onasled and his MCS doggin' the Cobra can be seen here:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ighlight=cobra
The link there to the Cobra forum is a nice read, and I believe it was mentioned there that it is a 427...
Also, by clicking on his sig photo, one can see his most recent vid with Porsches...

Anyways, everyone has their own opinion about this. Mine is pretty clear.
If it makes everyone happy:
yes, the mini will beat any car in the world, it is the greatest and fastest of all. I heard they dont allow it in F1 because it would not be fair for all the others that drive those 3 million dollar 1000HP cars.
Goodnight!
Okay moderators. If you're going to delete my thread about high-speed driving, then you should delete this thread for street-racing. He says it's not street racing because he stayed under the speed limit. However, by definition, if you're trying to go faster than someone else, then you're racing.
Now, it's not like I don't want to read threads like this...'cause I do. But to be fair, if you're going to delete mine, you should delete his.
