..oh, and for the record, I'll take my Camel over a 911 Turbo any day of the week.
You see, I prefer the car that moves when you think it to, not when you need to push, shove and kick for it to do something.
The MINI moves with my mind, like it's a part of my body. When it comes to agility, king kong aint got sh*t on MINI.

GO MCS
Well Done. Agreably, the Porsche is faster, but it won't go anywhere without a competent driver.
Our MCS's amaze people when you hit the hammer and know how to drive. I've beaten Vettes, Mustangs, and boxters all of the time. I am sure if I was driving their cars, I would have put a serious whipping on an MCS.
It's called the car and driver experience. The car alone does nothing.
GO MINI. Let 'em go, but if they wanna play, spank 'em like a readheaded step child !! I do !

btw.. Onasled drives a MINI Cooper S.

All it shows is that the other person can't drive their car - which is a very common occurance at track events. It shouldn't make anyone get all big-headed about driving an S.
Same goes for the original poster. Guy was probably in 4th gear or something.
Hey Dude I am light
. I think there is alot to learn from the technique here. Ignore twice, then take by surprise. Oh yes and then the all important shut down early. Can someone say sucker punch
. I'd have pulled off too. My eyes would have been so full of tears from laughing so hard.
Only one way to settle this it seems. Invite him to you local drag strip and go at it on a fair basis...both prepared and understanding what each other's intention is.
Then go post the results

And it goes without saying that I obey traffic laws.
I have both a '98 C2S with slight mods and a '04 MCS with a bunch. People always ask me which do I like better. It depends on what I want to do. To run down to the store, the Mini. For something longer the Porsche. To me the Mini is exciting and the Porsche is thrilling. The Porsche will pull more g's around a corner, but not as fun on a slower twisty. The Mini is like skate boarding and the Porsche is like down-hill skiing.
The Mini is quick out of the hole, but the Porsche has the grunt. Terminal velocity, well hands down on the Porsche. I have had the Mini up to 115 mph with no end in site (autobaun of course) but felt the suspension come alive in the 90's. The Porsche doesnt really get going until about 140. I did 157 (autobaun again) and started to get nervous as the suspension lightend up. I dont think either of them as 1/4 milers, but would pick the Porsche every time in a drag race. R&T has a page with 1/4 mile times and g-ratings on the skid pad, so its easy to see. The only thing they lack is the smiles per dollar and the Mini wins hands down every time.
As we say in the 356 Club "Keep the faith". Have fun - I sure do!
PS: love this site and all the contributors - great work and info.

Android933 you are 100% correct
I bought my MCS05 as a weekend car. It was so much fun to drive I sold my SUV and now the MINI is my daily driver. So.. now I'm in the process of purchasing a Porsche Boxster S. The MINI is lotsa fun but the porsche is OMG thrilling to drive. Not something you need every day like the MINI. Anyway I don't understand the need to race on the streets. Enjoy the ride, enjoy getting from point A to point B. Drive as if some fool is about to cut in front of you at anytime. Race on the track.

. More fun for the dollar.
...... I got my doors blown off by a Civic ....
If you do look at the videos, you can see how much quicker some P-cars are down the long straight. Mini is no match, even a modified S. With that said, I had several owners of the C4 and other wide bodies (what do I know what they are..) come up to me at the end of the day and say "I got to get me one of those cars" ...
Minis are great cars. I have never thought of them as 'straight liners', but put them on a track and you **** a whole lot of people off. Well, not really **** them off, but they do look at there $100K cars a bit differently...

. It's loads of fun to drive.
. Anyways, I know exactly what the car is capable of. But...

Camel,
I understand what you're trying to say... but I disagree just a little bit on the straight line racing... imagine yourself strapped into a top fuel dragster... hitting over 300mph by the time you get to the 1/4 mile marker. Ummm... yeah. Not exactly something for the faint of heart.
I'm no fan of NASCAR though (boring!), so I agree with you there.

Camel, I used the strip simply as an example of a focused event where both contestants have the same objective and same purpose. That's all. No misunderstanding of intentions. In such a contest, the results might have some meaning. Otherwise it a null event.
Personally I don't realy care for drag racing or NASCAR. Although, I don't disrespect those who do. I've raced motorcross, and P-car club. I don't much care for sitting as a spectator at a race, but I have attended two 24 hr Le Mans events and one F1 event.
And I LOVE my MINI, as probably you do as well

A couple of weeks back, I saw a Porsche GT2 and luckily we were both headed in the same direction. The GT2 was in front of me we were going about 35 and I have to say... The GT2 could have been in 6th gear and I could have been in 2nd, it would still have ripped me to shreds. The guy in the GT2 stepped on the gas a little, I could definately hear it, and there was no chance of me even following it anymore. Wow, it was some shock as to how much power that car can deliver.
Anyway, it is true that MINIs can surprise many other cars and drivers.
I could keep up with my friend's mustang gt from a 30mph roll, but only because he has an auto..
Oh I have a stock MCS 04'
