I'm no fan of NASCAR though (boring!), so I agree with you there.

btw... I used to race 1/4 in another car of mine, and have taken 1st in class before. It just doesnt take long to realise that:
1. You need a jet engine to trully win Overrall prize and
2. It really isnt as much fun as racing other cars on a circuit.
Hey, I got mucho respect or any organised event racer. And my definition of motorsport is anything that runs on an IC engine and is organised
. And anyone who has been there understands how it is different than the goofing around that goes on with stop sign "racers". That's exactly why I don't dis real competition but call to the carpet posers
. To each his own I suspect. I'll stop now. Ya'll have fun and happy motoring. Mini's rule

I am down to the last week of my wait for an 05 MCS. So I am very excited about that, but my Dad has an 04 Porsche Turbo and he looked at several C4S' before deciding to go with the Turbo. I can say for sure that the C4S would blow the doors off of a stock MCS any day of the week. Plus, the C4S come with the throatier sounding sport exhaust standard, so chances are the C4S was stock as well. If you did in fact "destroy" theis guy in the C4S he must have just given up on getting you to race and on top of that he must have been a terrible driver. Thats not to say that I don't think that the MCS is a great car, I do, other wise I wouldn't be buying one. However for people to think that our little cars can easily beat a C4S or even a stock C2 is a little rediculous....
I've outdriven many other drives in rental Cavileer's and PT Cruisers.
It is a real shame to see somebody with a high dollar sports car and not know what the apex is. I was drooling over a Silver GT3 I was following. Guy blasted away from the light, then took the worst possible line around the corner
Dave.

Your thread title seems to indicate Carrera 4s vs MCS, which means you're trying to compare cars. Just because you beat another driver doesn't mean the car can't beat yours.
take the two cars to a track...
take a driver who knows how to drive a FWD car equally as well as he knows how to drive a RWD car...
Have this driver, in the same weather conditions, track conditions, etc run them around a track at 10/10th... or even down a dragstrip if you so desire...
Then compare times between the cars...
I also noted you did say in another post in this thread, that you beat the driver, not the car beat the car. Even more reason for the change in this thread's title.

. Lol. I only meant to spread the love and revel in my little car. Thanks for all who cared to chime in PS: Cosworth kit on order. Soon the Porsches will be really shocked

I love the David vs. Goliath story...never fails to satify me. Let's just say there was a Mr. Macho 06/300hp/GT who thought he couldn't have picked on an easier pray yesterday than a "cute" little Mini with black wheels. Arm N2O

Sid you are a bad bad man!!!
to all those people who are getting way to serious in this thread, let the guy have his moment, he is proud of his car and wanted to share it with us all, he seems like he knows that with a competent driver the porsche would of beat him, he was just proud of his car and i think we all are at times! And whoever made the comment about twincharged MINI's you've obviously never driven one at highway speeds, downshift to fourth at 75 and let it fly
! It is the killjoys around here that make me want to stop posting and ing congrats on the kill!,

Speaking of the Car and Driver article, my guess is that they forgot to do some of their homework for '05. Quote: "It doesn't stand to reason, but despite the slight weight penalty, this convertible is the best-performing Mini we've ever tested: 0-60 arrived in just 6.6 seconds." Hmmmm, could it be....... the increased horsepower and revised gearing for '05?!! Stands to reason to me.
So perhaps this little excursion with the Porsche wasn't quite so far-fetched after all. (I did say quite)

Good jumps and good drivers can make a big difference. However, if I ran off the line twice, and the other guy refused to play, I'd have little interest to keep beating on my car until he did. I think this was just kind of a sucker punch issue, or may have just caught a guy napping or losing interest on the third light, or his driving skills were just that bad. Good story though, I enjoyed it and the responses.
In a C4S, even somebody that can't hardly drive a manual, could rev and dump the clutch in that 4 wheel drive car, and probably wouldn't need to even shift in a 0-60 race as mentioned. You may get a big jump with some luck and trickery
, but I don't see us "pulling" away from one of those. Hey our MINI's are hella fun, but stock they aren't going to pin us to our seats up to 160-170+

BUT, we were talking about a standing still start here, not a highway race. A P4S has everything going for it here: AWD, massive torque and relativly low weight. Even if the twincharged had the power to compete (which it probably dosn't) it could not get it to the ground.
it's quite interesting to see all the people getting revolted against the truth: the cooper S is NOT a fast sports car, it's a quick, nimble, fun to drive hatchback. ACCEPT IT.
I love mine for what it is.

Camel, it's quite impressive you can make such a judgment on that comment alone.
You dont know me, you dont know my experiance with cars, you dont know my experiance racing...
So tell me, according to you, which cars ARE faster then a Cooper S?
This should be interesting...

I meant fast as in "acceleration, cornering, braking..." (I didn't think I had to specify)
I would like a list of cars that you think can beat a mini so we can all learn from your "great knowledge" of the mini and other cars.
