Sunroof Sunshade

Well, I ordered my MCS last week and I'm as excited as I've ever been about a car.

So I ordered it with the Sunroof, but I live in hot and I do mean HOT San Antonio Texas... with that said I'm thinking the little web net thingie is not going to do very well in the summer, especially with the panther black leather interior

Are there any aftermarket sunshades for the sunroof, if so in y'alls opinion which is the best. Also I got the anchrite headliner so if they make em in black that would be awesome!! Thanks everyone..

Oh one last question... about how long does the status show "On order" on the Mini website? Devlivery date should be in August from what I was told by the SA.

Ok so I continued my search and found these...

I'd rather have black ones though.

Cheap solve.

I took a front window shade ($12 bucks) and cut it down to fit. I trimmed it in the ever useful duct tape. Works fine, looks fine, and keeps my head cool.

Being from Phoenix, I can understand the sunroof problem. I actually tinted my sunroof using 35% limo tint. It works great, it really cut the glare and heat coming into my mini. Highly recommend it.

I just got those and they work very well. The fit is rather tight on the front roof, but I'll tell you they work great. The reflective material really cuts the heat

Oh, and if you want black for the inside don't worry, when you pull the shade part over these covers they are barely noticable.

I did the same thing on my 03 MINI. Worked like a charm. Why would you want to spend $50 for something you can do for 10 or 12. And the MINI shade covers everything up & holds it in place.

Now I don't have a top so no need to worry

Hello Will, I am also in HOT San Antonio. Did you know about the South TX MINI Club (STMC). We meet Friday evenings at Biffs Burgers at about 7pm for conversation and then we go somewhere (sometimes Biff's sometimes elsewhere) to eat. Come on to theSTMC website for more info - you'll have to have a yahoo login. We also do some runs and other stuff.

See ya,

Steve

You may think it works the same, but that reflective thermal insulated stuff they use cuts the heat amazingly well, better then cardboard for sure. Part of that may also be the tight fit to the roof. Car stayed cool the other day even though I left the windshield uncovered.

Besides, not only does it work well and look nice and finished, but I'm all for supporting Mini stuff vendors and sponsers

I considered tint and a sunroof graphic as well, but decided I like the option of having clear glass to look through when I want it.

 Dragonflyer, owner of AesthetiCreations, made a custom metallic greytone Union Jack sunroof flag for Wanda that really cuts down on the sun rays. I highly recommend that! He installed a base layer of pure silver, then installed the dark silver and black shapes on top of it, so it is visible from inside the cabin and it is much more efficient than the perforated traditional-colored UJ sunroof flag it replaced. Looks fab with the new chrome bonnet stripes he also installed!

Shoot! I drove home through San Antonio just before Memorial Day! Didn't know about the club, and didn't see any other MINIs. Next year, I'll have to time it so hubby and I can meet y'all for dinner at Biff's!

Actualy the window shade I cut down was refective with an insulation layer, it look very much like the product at thier web site.
As for suporting mini vendors, I guess I'm just a do it myself kinda guy.

Understood, but although hubby can do most all things mechanical himself, we both felt it was well-worth it to have a custom sunroof flag designed and installed! She looks mahvelous!

And I removed the AesthetiCreations banner across the top of the windscreen, as it was too distracting AND it should have been silver, not white!

Cool, I hope you like them. Remember when you get them that the front one fits tightly above the plastic frame. I thought it was the wrong size until I bent it up and over the front frame and then it fit without a crease.

I have the OEM aero grill installed, bought the upper and lower piece from Classic Mini parts w/ a NAM discount Bit of a complicated install for the bottom piece, but you can find instructions here:

http://motoringfile.com/howto/MINI_a...ll_install.pdf

Cheers

I agree, depending on the job, I have been talking to AesthetiCreations about a custom roof grafic for my baby. I'll post pix when we're done.

Not sure if you're asking me this question or not, r13ater, but Wanda has the OEM antenna with my groovy c3 club antenna ball on it!

I get good reception with it...but I haven't had anything else installed for comparison.

I have more than supported MINI vendors & sponsors in the 3+ years I've owned my MINIs. And my checkbook shows it. What I used was not the cheap cardboard window things but the higher quality reflective one. I was just trying to give him a less expensive alternative that I felt worked quite well.

I did that... I bought a $5 sunshade and cut it to fit... one standard size sunshade can cover both front and rear sunroof. Definetly keeps the heat out when the car is parked at work all day.
