Our company is offering a very attractive skid plate for the MINI. The skid plate is made of a G10 Aerospace composite material. We were instructed to help out the boys at Peabody Mini after they had a few power steering pump fans get stuck due to rocks and general road grime. The plate is available through us directly. It is a direct bolt on fit. Due to the fact it is a composite material it will never rust or corrode. The skid plates are available in light green or Black or Carbon fiber.

For more info please contact Gary at Peabody Mini. 978.536.0088

Or feel free to contact us directly should you have questions.

Interesting. We use G10 on the radar electronics packaging on spacecraft.

One Technical Question: how thick is this skidplate? G10 and composites in general have pretty poor impact absorbtion characteristics, plus crack propagation is a real concern as well.

I called Gary at Peabody.
He said that it is going to cost around $160. About the same as the metal ones.

$160 is too much for a skid plate. MiniMania.com has them for only $120 if you don't mind black (who sees it anyway?).

I'd be concerned about the previous question, just how long is it going to last? While composites are strong structurally, they do not take abrasions or impacts well.
