It is SO lame, that this little mid-west track tour used the name Cannonball. They should be ashamed for tarnishing such a wonderful REAL US race (and movie legend)! Long Live the Gumball!

Not sure if you are aware, but the One Lap was created by Brock Yates at Car and Driver, who was also the brains (if you can call it that) behind the original Cannonball Run. There is obviously no way a magazine can associate themselves with such an activity these days (and there probably wasn't a good way back when it happened, either!), so they started this more legal variation on the theme. From what I've read, it is just about as arduous a task as driving across the country, and getting from one venue to another requires a similar dedication to breaking speed limits as the original did.

I think an MCS won the retro class last year, too. Congratulations!

Enter it, you'll see ..... , If you have enough $$ and time and stamina

Drove thru 14 states, 4,000 miles in 7 days, on 8 tracks and one drag strip with 90+ cars, many of which are factory sponsored and heavily modified

Not a joke of a "tour" as you suggest, It was shorter than usual this year, we averaged 3-4 hours of sleep

Last years was almost coast to coast, went to Cali, Vegas from Indiana and Back again, between 7,000 and 8,000 miles

Go Steve!!!

Early this spring, I was fortunate enough to have Steve as an in-car instructor for a BMWCCA HPDE at Summit Point. I learned a lot.

You could also go to the "One Lap of America" website http://www.onelapofamerica.com/

and click on 2005 gallery, I emailed Brock Yates my photos I took, and he said he wanted to use them for his site.
