Well, I took the Mini to the track for the first time tonight. I have a 2005 MCS with JCW Intake, 15% pulley and MTH. Loaded car, full tank, I'm 270lbs. Had a little bit of camera equipment in the car, it was 85 deg. and humidity was in the 90% range. 3000 miles on the car, 17" Pirelli runflats, normal pressures - completely normal as I drive it daily.

First run I had no traction till the end of 2nd, I spun very badly, ran 10.8 @62. Next two runs I did 10.2 @69 and 71, with much better traction, but not quite perfect. Pretty close though.

I'm playing with the video I captured from the runs with my vacucams...I have some vid issues though, I think it's a couple of the cams, or the switchbox.

The funniest part of the night was sitting in the staging lanes. Without fail, every time we came to a stop, the car was surrounded by people - 5-15 at a time. 1/2 were asking about it being a Mini, 1/2 were asking about the Vacucams! Guys were getting out of their cars in the lanes 10 cars away to walk up. On one of my runs I heard the tower say 'hey folks, that's a real Mini - I think they come from Germany or something' - LOL

Appearantly I was the first most people had ever seen, let alone on the track! A couple guys said there was another MCS that had been there a couple years ago, but that's it. It was fun I have lots of footage of people looking into/at the Vacucams and scratching their heads, then finally asking - I would show them the camcorder screen and run through the views - they all said oooooh cool!! Appearantly I was also the first they had ever seen do that! LOL Well it won't be the last! One group of guys from a team thought I was testing/filming for a Magazine - they were betting if they were cameras or gyros!

 

Cool! The only thing missing is the parachute!
