Hawk Performance Ceramic Pads?

I've been reading all the brake dust and wheel waxing threads, and was wondering if anybody has these pads on their car and how they are.

I have em on a 323I and the dust is awesome! This car hasnt been washed in 6 weeks (it hasnt been home for a wash, naturally), and the dust looks mild compaied to 1 week of OE BMW dust.

Can you compare the performance of the Hawk Ceramic pads to OE MINI (or BMW) and to Hawk HPS? I am getting pretty tired of the dust

I'm getting a set of these for the rear wheels this week. I will sill have the stock breaks on the front until I use up the pads. So I will be able to give a breakdown comparison in a week or so.

NOT a good idea to be mixing brake pad compounds. Can really upset the braking balance of the car.

Scott's right. Well, at least you need to be careful to select combinations that complement one another. For example, selecting a pad compund for the rear that has a much high coefficient of friction relative to the front could make the car unstable.

In this case, I doubt your choice will have a dramatic effect, but you do need to be alert to the possibility, as well as the chance that the pads are affected by heat in different ways.

That said, please let us know what your experience is with these ceramic pads.

I did't really think of that. I guess I will need to get both sets.

Will it make that much of a difference if the new pads are just on the back. Since most of my breaking power is in the front breaks i wouldn't see it being dangerous. Right?

You'd be changing your brake bias - not the best idea.
Keep the mini engineered to brake as intended, and keep the pads the same!

Atleast put the highest grip level on the front axel.

I guess Mike at 7ent thought it would not be good to have the Hawks on the rear and OEM on the front.

He did however tell me the Green Stuff are a better suit for mix and match. So I will be trying Green Stuff instead.
