S paddle shifter

I got my MCS on Wednesday. Just the way I ordered it; Yellow, white roof, mirrors, wheels, yellow dash, etc. And it is fast and a hoot to drive.

But the dealer had a bad part for the Sirious radio and had to overnight one in.

As I drove a long way to pick up the Mini I took a room and stayed over night so I could take the complete MCS home.

The dealer loaned me a new MCS with an automatic. I didn't even know the MCS had an auto available. Anyway in the "drive" mode the auto was not impressive (other than there aren't that many six speed autos). BUT put it in paddle mode and it was VERY impressive. A paddle being on both sides of the steering wheel you can shift either right thumb or left, never taking your hands off the wheel.

I took it on twistie back road and felt like Michael Schumacher (minus the money)! Had this option been available I might have ordered it way back when. Anyway I give it a thumbs up.

Hurts man...I am waiting for mine with the paddles to arrive.

But happy motoring.
Also did you find it accelerated faster with the paddles or in sport mode without using the paddles? I have driven a few Auto MCS but never used the paddles because the cars were new and I was trying to not kill the new engine.

So you push with your thumb to shift up and pull with your other fingers

to shift down?

Actually I believe it is the other way around.

I like the paddle shifters OK for straight line acceleraration, but for me the auto really shines when you shift it using the stick - just a flick back or forward and you're in the next gear higher or lower, respectively. Very quick shifting.

Yeah, I drive mine in manual mode using the stick 99% of the time. If I've got one hand busy I'll use one of the paddles. It is quite a bit of fun, but it's also nice to have auto mode when you're going down extreme twisties at a rate that scares you so you don't have to think about it. lol

oh, ok. That's what i thought. Do the revs match during downshift automatically or do you blip the throttle?
