Inflation Rates
inflation rate? Do you mean pressure? Actually, you follow the basic
pressures of stock regardless of size and then increase/decrease
depending on the climate, gross weight, and type of driving you do.

For MINIs with 4 people use
35-38 psi front and rear
What non-OEM size did you have in mind? These pressures will work on wheels that are from 15" to 20" no matter what the side profile. You may choose slightly higher psi for higher profile 60 series tires or similar.

Anybody else know for sure? I'm running 215/45/17's myself (non-runflat Pirelli P Zero Nero M/S) and I keep mine at 35 all year round (higher because I have some extra weight - 12" sub, a few layers of dynamat, false floor) and plus I like the better gas mileage.....

Alex
When I purchased my 215/45/17 Goodyear F1 GS-D3's from Alex, he recommended 34 psi front and rear. I asked for a recommendation because the plackard in the door jamb says 38 on my '05 MCS. That seems unusually high to me. 34 psi seems appropriate.

If there are 1-2 people then choose:
32 psi for front and for the rear
If there are 3 to 4 people then choose:
36 psi for front and for the rear
There is a range that is acceptible based on which tires you have- just check the placard on the door jam- read the chart. You can run the same pressures on the front and the rear tires.
For 215/40-17 just use the normal psi range not 40 like Alex said.
And forget about loading up the MINI with four people and all their luggage for a camp out if you use those sized tires.
Rick-Anderson,
Since you have just one person then try 33 psi
emini,
34 psi is fine if you have 1-2 people only.
Test out the ride and see how it feels for you. Your tire pressure gauge might not be perfectly accurate so get into the right range and adjust.
You can run slightly higher to get less rolling resistance and better gas mileage but it will be a bit rougher. You'd still keep the pressure in the ranges as mentioned before.
