F54 Clubman Questions!
Clubman Questions!
Hi Mini Fam,
been off this forum for a while but seeking some insight on two observations that I’m hoping you can help with. Long time mini owner, I’m on #4 (‘22 Clubman S All4), purchased used two years ago with like, 13k miles. This is the first mini of that gen I’ve owned.
my questions are as follows:
-#1I remember with all my previous minis that they would throw the outside temp warning upon startup if it’s 37 degrees or below outside. This year, mine has not be giving me that warning at all, despite the car reading accurately when it’s well below 37.
Brought it to the dealer and asked them, and they can’t seem to find anything wrong with it.
To my understanding, this is a “safety feature” that can’t be turned off by users. The dealer tried telling me it was just a simple menu option that I can enable. I know most people get annoyed by this warning and wish to turn it off. My concern is that it could be an indicator that something else is already, or is about to fail and my warranty is up next month.
Am I making it up? Do you guys get the warning during winter months (at or below 37) every time you start the car?
-#2 Does this sound normal for the turbo/4 engine: when I accelerate moderately to harshly, I get a rough raspy sounding engine noise that is louder than the normal hum of the engine.. It’s in the early gears (auto), around high 1k/2k RPMs. Car shifts fine. No vibrations in the car. It runs fine otherwise. Happens regardless of climate control being on. Dealer said is normal, but I can’t help but think it sounds..off.
any insight is appreciated!

Welcome to the F54 generation. #1 - That is weird that it doesn't trigger the warning, I know my '17 still does it. Maybe the PO was able to code it out with BimmerCode or some other coding software?? I doubt something is 'broken' or going to fail, IMHO. Mine doesn't really bother me, since it only chimes in at startup or if a quick temp drop happens. #2 - Really hard to say without actually hearing the sound you are describing. My guess is that it is some exhaust system resonance that happens at that range/engine load and likely 'normal' for the platform.
