Windshield Wiper cowling ?

I just replaced my upstream oxygen sensor and while I had all the plastic bits out of the way I decided to swap out my dried up cracking windshield wiper cowling. I went to ECS and ordered it and it should be here soon.

Here is my question .. taking out the old one was a bit of a learning experience. I recently had my windshield replaced and thought they had glued it in sinceeit wouldnt budge but it is tight by design and you have to work it out from one end and continue to peel it out as you move across to the other.

I am concerned about how I get it back in such a tight gab at the windshields lip. Hoping someone here has done it and maybe has some insight. Did you add a little lube to the windshield wiper cowling front edge to get it under the edge of the windshield or ??

Thank you for any insight!

Alex

It's kind of... for lack of a better term, "Ziploc-like." You press the edge of the cowling into that plastic channel you peeled it out of -- it's not a loud snap-fit but it's that sort of idea, definitely a press-fit. Not exactly obvious, either, until you get to working at it.

Not so sure I would use any lube, given that the intent is a tight seal. But I suppose the right kind of lube might be fine. I did mine without any at all. Slow, steady, and patient was the key in my case, and 100% start at a corner of the cowling.

Maybe not super-helpful but that was my experience with my 2017 F56 S, when I had to pull that cowling for other reasons.

Thank you! I'm so desperate to give a touch of Vaseline but I'll try from the corner and see if I can get it started then move along without adding anything
