There is a loud rattle that comes from my R53 Mini cooper s at 8-900rpm(warm), it happened on this exhaust and my last exhaust, I have already changed chain tensioner, I am going to change oil plunger in oil filter housing, because it also looses oil pressure at idle once really warm. The rattle goes away then comes back on occasion, and sometimes is on and off every second or so. Please help. The noise goes away with gas.

 

Any chance your exhaust manifold/cat assembly is cracked? Any service engine soon light/codes?

 

What he said. Stock or aftermarket exhaust? Could be a bad resonator. You'll need to get it on a lift or jack stands to see and hear where the rattle is located.

 

Yeah. On my ‘03, I changed out the original two mufflers a couple of years back with an essentially new take-off. Imagine my surprise when last week, I heard an exhaust-sounding rattle. I put the car on a lift, and tapped the exhaust pipe up to the rattle, which was coming from the cat.
