9CC2 Attention Electronics on the right headlight (SMC) reports errors

I have a 2012 Countryman S ALL4, 120,000 miles. It has xenon adaptive headlights (AHL). I'm intermittently getting an error with the headlights. The dash displays Adaptive Headlights error. BimmerLink reports an active error in the Driver's side footwell module, 9CC2 Attention Electronics on the right headlight (SMC) reports errors. My right headlight is original.

Has anyone received and resolved this error? I don't want to unnecessarily spend $300+ for a control module if the problem is elsewhere.

Thank You

I would start with removing the footwell module and closely inspecting all connectors and pins for corrosion, especially if you have the optional sunroof.

Good suggestion. I have a sunroof. I'll inspect both the footwell module and the headlight module for corrosion or bad solder joints and report back.

I apologize for not sending an update earlier. I pulled the footwell module and inspected its connectors. Everything was dry and clean.

Then I pulled the right headlight. I inspected the harness connection, the xenon control unit and the corning light control unit. Everything was clean and dry. I didn't see any burnt components, bent pins, or solder cracks.

The codes were coming every day in January, but I haven't seen them in a while. I'm curious if Spring's warmer weather is a factor.

RESOLVED

It's been a few months, but I thought I would follow up on this post. Problem resolved after I replaced "Headlight, Control Unit, Cornering Light, Right", part number 63127199362. The module is a little, expensive circuit board but far less than replacing the entire headlight.
