TPS light illuminated- No TPS on car-???

OK, here's a weird one.. 2006 MCS, manual. A couple months ago the TPMS light came on. It's never been an issue and I thought nothing of it. I tried to clear the light with the regular procedure. It did not work.
I tried to use my new topdon scanner tool and it tells me there is no TPS- because there is no tps on the wheels and has never been since we've had the car--- many years.

I cannot clear this light and now it's just annoying me. Any thoughts as to what I can do?

Heya, the TPMS shares signal with the ABS / Wheel speed sensor. Its technically called an "indirect TPMS".

With your scan tool are you able to scan abs sensors in someway? From the light reading about this "topdon scanner tool" it seems to be able to activate ABS functions.
I know with ISTA it will tell you specifically which wheel sensor is broken, could be worth investing getting ISTA working on a laptop to get specific feedback from the car.

best of luck!

When my wheel speed sensor went bad I got that code as well. To find out which wheel is at fault, hook up your scanner and check the individual wheel speeds. Pretty sure one of them shows 0 or is behaving erratic.

(then I had the fun of drilling the sensor out as it was stuck)

Interesting. They're all newer sensors. I'll try to see if I can scan them and see if there is an issue. Thanks for the tip!!

+1 wheel speed sensor is bad. Or it cracked or worn on the back bearing.

Do you know which brand was installed? Some brands will cause all sorts of issues if you look into it deeper. I believe Delphi is the known OEM manufacturer of these speed sensors, being the most expensive i can believe that.
@ECSTuning may know more about oem brand?

My BMW was very particular and would not accept anything but OE. I purchased from ECS. - Something like $28 each- probably Uro brand (figured they'd be ok if ECS was selling them)
I just need to figure out which one might be the culprit since I replaced all 4 of them at the same time.

I’ve used Delphi - no issues. First time in 2014? We owned since 11 miles. Also had to do L/F bearing - it was bad, and destroyed the sensor.

I used the less cost brands we carry and no issues on that part.

VDO and delphi have the contract with MINI on those dependent on MINI model. Its not so much the brand but how you install them/prep for install. The back of my bearings worn through the head with rust.
