R50/53 after market fan+A/C
after market fan+A/C
Hi
I fitted an aftermarket fan and would like to know if there is a fan trigger wire for the A/C in
the original fan loom plug and what color.
I was wondering if i could us the compressor connection.
Thank you in advance.

The fan is controlled by the DME. So when you turn on the AC, it sends a signal to the DME which then triggers the fan.
There isn't a separate wire for this, it uses the same wires as it would for triggering the fan when the engine gets hot. If you've reused the original wiring harness everything should work.
*The stock fan is two speed, so if the new fan is only single speed then you might run into problems.

@mrbean is correct with regards to the wiring, there should only be a hot and a ground at the point of connection to the fan.
But... The fan is actually not a two speed fan, the low and high speeds are controlled in the wiring itself prior to the connection at the fan, low speed is simply controlled with a resistor that limits current to that wire, thus the limited speed of the fan.
The only thing should should need to be concerned with is the ability of your fan motor to operate at a lower current level without compromising the motor itself over time.
