Valve Cover Replacement

Hello all..

Im new to Mini..It's my GFs car. Much to my chagrin there is NOTHING on the interwebs concerning DIY maintenance on these vehicles. I tried looking on All Data and they didnt even have a "mini" option (my disgust for this brand grows).

I don't think there's any information on this forum regarding this type of repair. Is there a FSM website that I can find the information? Or should I just try to convince her to sell this bucket? Thanks.😂

Most are here on the forums and if you have the OEM pat number off the old one you can you the search box in the top right of this site. No spacers or dashes

Realoem ( https://www.realoem.com/) and our site is good to find parts. BMW group shut down all the free TIS programs and you have to pay for it. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/

Alldata was never good for MINI or BMW, we have it and barely use it here. Its good for Domestic cars.

What model and year?

Here is a teardown that might help. It will show you neet to take off parts of the fuel system for access. Replacement is very rare based on what I have learned. And runs about $2500 at a dealer due to labor.

Sounds like you're going to have to decide if she's worth the trouble of having a Mini for you to work on. Sure hope you don't take your disgust for the brand out on her...or she may make the decision for you!

Thanks once again ECS! What changed in 2020 motor to make the metal cover not work with the new motor? Do you have a list of all changes engine-wise? In the hardtop I remember a new ECU setup that took forever for tuners to unlock.

I just installed the ECS red metal valve cover on my MINI R56 Coupe with the N16 engine. It is an impressive piece of kit; I'll put the metal valve cover for my 2019 Countryman when I see the first drop of oil around that complex gasket.
