Angry P1338, 2D5A & 2DA0 Codes

My wives R60 has been an on going nightmare for the past 6 months.

In November my wife had her Mini go into limp mode and had a the above codes pending. After doing some research it sounded like the issue was Vanos related but before taking the dive and replacing we gave the R60 an oil change a few K early just to eliminate it as i know the Vanos is oil driven. Well wouldnt you know that completely resolved the issue.... for 4 Months. Well on Friday her car again went into limp mode and again had the same codes so i cleared the codes and then P0012 Came up as pending and just like that the next day the car was fine. Until Monday afternoon when it happened again, so i bit the bullet and replaced both the intake and the exhaust Vanos (FYI Its a T25 Torx bit NOT a 10mm socket like the tutorials say) I cleared the codes and all was fine until this morning. Im at my wits end and on my last rope with the R60.

Does anyone have any advice on my next step to take

Some history we had the timing chain replaced as preventative Maintenace at 100k and it currently has 115k now Hasnt been ran low on oil as it gets topped up every other fuel fill up.

I was getting all sorts of codes related to the Vanos on my wife's 2016. I put in new solenoids and also new Cam sensors each time the problem went away for a while then came back. Eventually it got worse. For me it was the Timing Chain and while they were in there the independent mechanic said the vanos sprocket had some sort of issue. He did take a picture when putting the tools on and sure enough the Cam was not aligned. Not sure if you did the timing chain or a shop did but I think you can take off the valve cover and see if the timing chain tools go on to double check the timing. Doing some quick searches show some people had to reset VANOS adaptations to make the P1338 go away. 2DA0 seems to point as well to the intake camshaft so it would seem that the intake camshaft isn't being read to be where it should be.

I’m going to agree that those codes are pointing to the timing chain service not being 100% correct, or perhaps the tech reused a cam bolt and it slipped.

Could there be an oil/hydraulic issue between the Cam shaft and the Cam sprocket? Where the cam sprocket is in time but the shaft isn't?
