P1338, P1339, Limp mode. Help please!
Howdy! First post here after having lurked for longer than I care to admit.
As the title suggests, I'm dealing with those two codes, P1338 and P1339, I've replaced both cam position sensors and am still getting the codes and reduced performance. According to my scan gauge, they're both pending codes and when cleared out the car will run okay for a bit and then they all come back. Weird thing was, I had replaced just one sensor and then drove it and it had full power but the half power light was still on. CEL has not been on this entire time. After replacing the other sensor it went back to how it was behaving prior to anything being replaced. I'm a little lost and confused and dreading that the answer is timing chain replacement. It doesn't run rough at all, just no power and it takes a little longer to start. Any and all help is and will be greatly appreciated. I tried searching around but didn't find anything that matched what I was encountering, but may have missed it, too.
Thanks!

checking the timing chain doesn't necessarily mean replacement. Make sure it is properly timed AND if out of time, you can still reset it using the locking tools and such. What you may have is also a clogged vanos solenoid. check the front and rear ones for dirt. finally, make sure you change your oil at most every 5k miles.
Hey Max,
not trying to pump an old thread, just wondering if you ever solved your issue with you mini. The symptoms you describe and codes are all the same things I'm expierencing.
Thanks in advance!
