As the temperature has dropped in the UK I’ve noticed that the drivers door is refusing to latch when I get in the car initially.

With a bit of manipulation it does but I cannot they open the door from the inside nor does the locking door pin engage when the car is locked.

i tried a quick clean of the latch with WD40 followed by silicone spray yesterday but the issue has reappeared overnight (-7.5C).

Window drops fine and passenger door is fine.

A new locking mechanism needed?

 

It may be irrelevant, but just a thought.

I had the same problem on the passenger side, and it was cured by a new battery. There were no other symptoms!
