I aquired a spose to be bolt on willwood rear brakes setup..
the issue I'm having is :
The mounting bracket is saposed to be spaced off the hub with a few washers for it to properly center on the rotor . Well , my issue is I need to to clearance the OPPOSITE way ! I need the bracket to go towards the middle of the car more because if binding up on the front outside face of the rotor..
ALSO ! WHAT brake lines do I use ??? It has a banjo style brake hose fitting because there's no room for the direct screws in r53 brake cable..
HELP !!!!.
I will 2x check ,brackets may have gotten mixed up when they were packaged up...
i guess i will have to call wilwood about the brakeline because i cant find anything listed online.
Good eye !
Idk if maybe the p.o had the brakes on a different setup BUT to get them to fit per installation manual, I had to flip the caliper mounts around and then install 3x shims behind it on the end of the bolt , NOW the rotor sits directly in between the caliper mount so it also even applies pressure then.
I called wilwood and was given the part # for the associated brake cables and im going to order those asap and get the installation finished..
I ALSO turned the wilwoods into brembos lol...
I am going to have a 6 pot front 13” wilwood setup for sale soon. But you need 17” rim and certain offset csnt recall. I switched to the 4 pot front loaders.
Will also have a OS Giken 1.5 way LSD as well for sale.
Ugh. Leaker at willwood gave Me the incorrect part #. I clearly told him I need the brake hose line NOT the parking brake cables.. so I gotta call again because they're site is useless unless you have part #s..
but I thiiiiiiiiink this is them ??? What are those 3rd fittings ??? I see the banjo bolt and banjo connector but whst is the other thing??
Ugh. What ate those 3rd fittings ??? I see the banjo bolt and banjo connector but whst is the other thing?/
Re: the hose kit Adam linked: If you are asking about the U-shaped clips and the adapter fittings in the center, the lower-center fittings are the adapters from your car's hard-lines to the flex-line's thread & taper. They will replace the OEM ones on your car. The flex lines are probably -3 size (3/16" mil-spec 37° fittings), and your Mini hard lines are metric thread, which is why you need adapters. The U-shaped clips (lower left) attach those adapter fittings to your body mounts.

I dunno, all I did was pull up the Wilwood site and search for '04 Mini Cooper rear brakes. If the kit you have is this one, then Wilwood lists that same part number you just linked to as the associated line kit. It's in the assembly pdf on the page I just linked to, and it's also called out farther up the page. Pretty sure one fitting is body side and the other is for the caliper.
So these are adapters ? I need to install the adapters into my stock hardline so the flex line then connects to that ???
damn it !!!!! Why can't they just make the correct **** and not ghetto rig it to work ???
There's GOTTA be a line that fits without having to splice and hack to get it to fit..
What a piece of **** kit this ,I highly suggest NO ONE to buy willwood, absolutely junk compared to my brembos just **** ****..
what a waste of time n money these are. This is another mod to add to the list of NOT TO waste your money on.
im going to keep looking , theres gotta be an oem line that fits , all it has to have is the banjo style connector, id really rather NOT hack my oem hard lines and add another possible failure point.
if i gotta hack up my hardlines to fit an adapter why dont i just buy the banjo fitting and have that instalked into my r53 stainless steel flexlines ???
That was quite a rant, and there's no need to slander Wilwood. You obviously haven't looked at where your stock flex lines attach to the hard lines at the rear of your car, or you would see that nothing has to be "hacked".
Your stock R53 flex lines have a built-in adapter fitting that attaches to the body with a U'clip. Screw the straight end of the new teflon line onto the piece you circled and it will attach to your body (with the new U-clip) and your hard line will thread into it, just like stock.
Make sure to use a metric flare nut wrench to detach your hard line from your current flex line because they are often corroded tight and round-off easily.
