I wonder if anybody has removed their oil pan, on an All4 F-series MINI? Is it a PITA to do (i.e. does it require dropping the transfer box like in the previous gen paceman/countryman)? I found some forum posts noting that on R series MINIs it could be done just by loosening the transfer box and lowering it slightly, but reinstallation sounded terrible (one thread noted they had to shorten one of the oil pan bolts because they couldn't manage to feed it back up in tight space, so really removal of the transfer box is required....).
I'm kinda thinking about doing it, as well as comparing the stock oil pan to this one. It looks like the stock pans are almost-but-not-quite set up to have a dipstick tube mounted on the side. Call me old-fashioned but I always like having a tube so that I can check my oil while the car is off...
We have aftermarket ones here in stock, i bet he is just buying ours (drilled it) and putting a dip stick in it from what looks like an R50/R52 dipstick. looks like the one on my r52?
Yes have not seen ones change, most people are doing the filter housing, but yes you would have to take those bolts out and tilt the transmission out a little.
I hit a rock in northern Michigan and cracked the sump on my 2020 F54 All4. I didn’t replace the sump but carefully followed the dealer’s service staff as they did it. They had to drop the exhaust to get at it. They did it in an afternoon, but the special sealant has to cure for 12 hours. Replacement pan was factory and it came with the required sealant. Wish I had known there was an aftermarket pan as it would have saved me some $$.
