R55 Clubman 3rd door stuck on seat belt
Clubman 3rd door stuck on seat belt
Haven't seen anyone else with this issue, and it is a first time for me.
Apparently the last time I closed the 3rd door on the Clubman the passenger seat belt got in the way, and the door closed on the seat belt. Now the door is stuck and won't open. Looks like the seat belt buckle is somehow under the door (is there really that much space between the door and the bottom car frame?). Never had the seat belt in the way before, barely ever even use the seat belt and had not used it that day. Never even occurred to me, that the seat belt could ever get in the way.
No matter what I try, or how I push or pull, I can't get the door open. Anyone else ever have this problem before? Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the d*** door open?

Aare you sure the latch is disengaging?
One of the problems with odd forces on the door (from the belt being in there) is that it puts stress on the latches so you might have to push THE DOOR MORE CLOSED while working the handle to see if you can get the latch to release. You shoudl be able to feel if the latch is releasing.
Also, on the bottom of the 3rd door just on the front edge there is a big black "button". that has to be OUT in order for the latch to engage. This prevents the door from being opened while the passenger door is closed. Check that to see if that might be jammed as well.
The doors are designed to not open unless all of the right things happen. I had a hell of a time opening the door on my passenger side after the deer strike and finally wound up tying a come-along ratcheting wire rope puller to the door and a tree next to the car to pull it open. It took A LOT of force

Thanks.
I checked the black button at the bottom. It is fine. When I work the handle, the latch does feel and sound like it is releasing. it just appears to be completely stuck. Not even a hint of movement no matter how hard I pull or push. I'll probably try to remove the interior door panel to see if I can see and/or manipulate anything. After that, its probably a trip for the dealer and ask for mercy. There is a location for a jack under the door. I might stick a jack underneath it, jack it up and see if changes some of the stresses/forces on the door.

I've just finished taking the doors on the passenger side of my car completely apart so can give you some hints at how to take it apart, although I don't think you'll be able to get the door panels off undamaged without the door being open.
There are two torx screws in the top of the gray piece above the seat belt mount that have to come out first and they face UP. you might be able to get those but it's not going to be easy. You'll be able to get to the latch on the top of the door with just this piece gone. you can probably unbolt it from the door so you now are only dealing with one instead of two.
Then there are two screws on the main door panel.one of which is under the gray panel. The other one goes in from the bottom on the rear/curved part of the panel. That one's going to be impossible to get with the door closed
How about you try this: Got to Home depot and buy yourself a ratchet strap, they're cheap. Tie one to a tree or something and the other to the loop on the front of the door where the front door latches. Put some constant pressure on the door both "out" and "in" while working the latch to see if you can free it.
You might also try a body shop if you know one, they know secrets to get into doors that are jammed since they deal with them all the time.
If you have to destroy the panels let me know, I have some "spares" from my damaged door that I replaced.

Did you check the "interlock button" on the bottom of the club door? I've read about it sticking and if it's not out the latch won't work
