Pesky air bag issue

Hello mini world,

I have a 2007 R52 mini Cooper. It has been in the family since new.

I have a pesky passenger seat Airbag issue. In 2015 I had the weight sensor recall done. This year, it went bad again another 1k for another weight sensor.

I moved from. CT to Atlanta, I had my cat and her carrier in the passenger seat and had it buckled. When I left for part 2 of the road trip, the srs light came on. I found a mechanic in Atlanta, he was almost positive it was the SRS module but he didn't have a ISTA scanner and due to some other circumstances I didn't continue with that mechanic. Currently looking for others.

I would like some help of what it could be. The mini dealership in Atlanta told me it was Alpine head unit. I told them that is dumb and doesn't make any sense. So I don't trust dealerships.

Also is there a good scanner that can clear the code in the meantime so I can save some money. The light is currently off. Trying to keep it that way.

Info here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...pancy-mat.html

Their is a sport seat option and a non sport for the R52.

You can get the matt/foam and with a little work do it yourself and then use our Schwaben scan tool to clear the code. It will not fix it if you don't replace the matt, it will just pop up again. It will clear it all out if you replace the mat. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben...020sch01a~scf/

DIY with hardware and tool. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...placing-3.html

It is the sport seat option.

Is that OBD2 scanner good to clear pesky airbag codes that are intermittent?

Yes our schwaben tool can clear it, but until you fix the problem, the light will come back.

Thank you, the system seems to work properly now. Maybe I made the connection better when taking out the seat to replace the HK amplifier. The light hasn't come on in over a month and when I press the passenger seat to make it so something is there. No issues.

But I will purchase it so I can clear it when the light come back.
