Just got a set of Mini Roof Racks for my base 2009 hatch.

Does anyone know of a source for the rack plugs that fill the holes in the roof when I remove the rack? They seem to be discontinued everywhere that I look.

Nick Scalisi at Open Road MINI might have come across some. 817-918-3591 No relationship to me other than I've purchased lots of parts from him. Also, he runs the Mini Coopers of Texas FB Group.

 

Think that have been gone for some time. When that happens, no dealer usually has them as they have been bought up. People find them.

Usually we are the last to have things like that due to volume. Lots of the Gen 2 MINI accessories have been gong nla, so if you see it on our site, buy it. I have a bunch of JCW stuff on both my MINIs that have been long gone.

 

Do you happen to have this file? It's no longer available at the link for download. Did you end up printing them? How did they turn out?

 

might sound silly but i used gasket maker and it worked great
cant see where the holes were at all

 

Your car, so you do you. The purpose of those roof plugs is so that when the rack is removed, they cover the holes. Then, when you want to put the rack back on, pop the plugs and mount the rack. Filling it with gasket maker will make remounting of the rack much more difficult.

yeah i know, but i hated having the rack so i didn't mind. it made way too much wind noise and i just never used it.

 

I did print the plugs but I didn't trust them to keep out water so I used liquid rubber to fill the holes.
