Footwell Module has the main board, the relays are on the fuse box or SPEG/JBE module

Thanks for the info. Why the hell is this rusting? Seems like it would be an issue for convertibles.
Trending Topics
Water gets to it from clogged sunroof drains. Or bad window seals, front seal on windshield, non sunroof. Or a convertible top down problems. Multiple ways for this to happen even on a non sunroof car. The problem is it too low in the floor and it was not made very waterproof.

So my 2011 Cooper caught fire, most likely because of this. The damage was mostly isolated to the driver side footwell and dash. There was soot all over everything in the car. Electrical is totally screwed. Had just replaced the battery too.
Yikes, were you ok?

It happened while the car was parked in the garage, sometime between last Thursday and yesterday. I noticed the wipers and mirrors had gone up, which was odd. It seems like it had cooled off for at least a day because nothing was hot to the touch.
I was working on changing the brakes last week, so I could actually drive it again. On the bright side, I no longer have to deal with the damn rusted rotor set screw.

I think the fact that the FRMs being available means the recalls might start getting fixed.
Yep, thats my guess also. Yep if you can get them to cover it, that's what i would do. My MINI is not covered, so if mine goes bad i got to buy one and its finally in stock.

My wife just bought a 2011 R55 and we found this open recall on it. It's a low mileage car, but was obviously kept outside and the cowl trim is wasted. This has me very interested in getting this recall cleared up ASAP as well as new cowl trim ASAP.
