R56 No 23v-337 Footwell Module Recall (FRM) Risk of Fire
Any updates?
My car just got fried from the module overheating like yours did. Any updates on what BMW has done for you?
I talked to our RTE last time he was in and he said basically they're just inspecting them for damage and replacing them if damage is found. No preventative measures to prevent water damage have been implemented, yet.
I just got the new letter , with
“Remedy is Available” highlighted
in a blue bold box and “we are
ready to perform this safety
recall” and “please contact your
authorized MINI dealer immediately
to schedule an appointment” (in
bold type) in the second paragraph.
I called my dealer’s service dept
to schedule, and they said there
is no current remedy available,
the parts are not available, and
they don’t know if and when they
will be able to proceed with the
recall.
I talked with MINIUSA and they
had nothing else to add, except
they suggested that I call the
NHTSA hotline at 1-888-327-4236
to file a complaint, and said this
may help expedite the recall to
proceed and may help MINI get
the parts to do it sooner (this
sounds like BS to me).
I haven’t called them yet as I
already waited on hold for 55
minutes to speak to someone
at MINIUSA customer service
earlier today. I’ll try the
NHTSA number later when
I have the stomach for it.
BTW, I did also get the earlier
letter about a year ago saying
that there was a recall
but that it was not ready to
implement yet.

Sounds like the ongoing backup camera recall on newer 2020+ Ford Explorers
Software patches that didn't do anything, followed by a very drawn out [slow] process of parts availability for replacements

What a joke... Received another recall notice letter in the mail yesterday. Decided I would finally go down to the local dealer and inquire about having the work scheduled. Was basically told to go pound sand because my car is not having issues. Service Advisor told me that unless the car started having problems, they were told to do nothing and ignore the recall. I'm going to have to call Mini Corporate....
Ugh, I'm in the opposite camp, more often than not FRM fault, but no recall notices. Not sure if I'd be in the Mini system, or if it's at the state level that they send recall noticed based on the VIN registration.
Local indy quoted me $1k to replace/code it
Another near them quoted 1 hr labor if I supply an OEM part

No clue. I feel like he was just dismissing me. Acted like it was a service bulletin, and not a recall...
I received a notice from a dealer I do not know, Recall Service Required: Footwell Module.
& are offering a free Mini gift if I come in.
the car has not been in the rain for several years repairs in my garage.
is this under the carpet how difficult to get to the module?

Behind the trim panel where the hood release is, I believe.
I need to take a look at mine, with how intermittent it is, I wonder if disconnecting it & making sure it's properly seated will help. My dad had the car before me & never had any problems with it, then the car sat for about a year before I got it, and it started acting up the first week I started to daily drive it.

Mine intermittently fails. Red 'Mini on a lift' icon in the tach. Lose all dash lighting & window operation, and blinkers will no longer self-cancel.
When it decides to behave, the red Mini icon disappears & all functions as normal, for a while.
Yes, I do park outside, and the car was parked outside inop, for about a year, with a missing a-pillar [exterior] cover & a leaking rear window [which shorted out the HK amp as well, I believe].
Not sure if the missing a-pillar cover allowed any water down into the FRM area.
