Cam / 380 Injectors - anything else to do?

I'm ordering the WMW Mild Street Cam and already have JCW injectors on the way. Is there anything I should be replacing or changing while in the neighborhood? Maintenance or because I'm changing the cam, I should replace X

I think this will be the last of my mods for a while.

Already had a tune a few weeks ago by Adrian which was awesome. Removed the emissions light and made everything smooth through the RPMs.

Current mods: 15%, DDM Intake, Milltek header and non-res catback. Koni Yellows with HR springs.

With these impending mods you're going to have fairly easy access to the timing chain and chain tensioner. You might consider those if they haven't been replaced. Also, with the addition of the injectors and cam, you are going to need to have Adrian look at your tune again.

Thank you!

My Mini just hit 70k but definitely will address those so I don't have to worry about those for much longer.

Agreed. I knew that both would benefit from a retune. Wanted to make sure the emissions light was addressed for an upcoming reg/inspection coming up.

Agree with @cooper48 maybe replace all your valve cover bolts and gasket while its off, most bolts with rubber are shot by then. Also make sure your belt tensioner is good. Depending on the cam, you may have to dent the spark plug tubes a tiny bit for clearance (i had to on mine) If it was mine I would also throw in a aluminum thermostat housing and gasket. Check for any leaks around your oil filter housing while your back there too. But yes you are going to need a new tune.

Others have offered up good recommendations.

Of coursed, engine oil and filter should be fresh or at least not past its change by miles/date. With the mods consider budgeting for more frequent oil/filter, engine air filter services, too.

I'll toss in don't forget the plugs. And be sure they are gapped correctly. I'd consider new coils too. And new #1 and #2 O2 sensors. Engine air filter. And cabin air filter. While this won't directly affect engine performance it can ease the amount of work the A/C has to do and that means less parasitic load on the engine. Besides it can prevent an old past its change by date air filter stinking up the cabin.

Be sure the engine's accessory drive is in tip top shape. New belt(s) and while you are there check for any signs of excessive bearing play of any of the accessory drives, idler tensioner bearing, and idler roller bearings.

Don't forget the brakes. No need to upgrade brakes but treat the brakes to a proper fluid flush/bleed service. If a manual transmission and if called for flush/bleed the clutch hydraulic system too.

Wait there's more... Perform a transmission/diff fluid service.

The idea is the engine/drive train is serviced and filter and fluids are fresh and the car is in its best condition to take whatever you throw at it.
