Cost of dash parts/swap?

Anyone priced all the parts to switch dash colors? I may be getting a (used) MCS with alloy patina and REALLY like the anthracite. I'll probably just wait to find one in a junkyard, but I thought I'd see if anyone had already done it. I'm betting the door pieces would be the biggest cost.

Haven't priced it but if you do replace them will you sell me your old ones? I need a set to test some new finishes on.... let me know how much you want...

and also let us know what a new set runs you.

Good luck on the junk yard. I have been trying for months and you just don't find MINI's in the Junk Yard

It will be a while for me - so don't hold your breath. I may try painting mine IB to match the exterior.

We have one wrecker here in CA that has a few - I figure that they have to be showing up somewhere...

Can you get me their number? I'd like to call them to see what they have and how much and such.

Thanks!

Let me know what you want so I don't grab it! If for some reason it happens all you have to let me know is what it is and I will make sure you get it.

If you call Classic Auto campus you can get prices for the five dash pieces new and see how much the door ovals are as well.

For the anthracite finish, the parts in that color include the 5 dash pieces, downtubes, cup/coin holder and shift ring, speedo ring, door ovals and pulls

In alloy patina, that finish is found only in dash pieces and door ovals.
Door pulls, downtubes, shift ring, cup/coin holder are all dull silver.
Speedo and tach rings are shiny silver.

When painting on your own, the alloy patina does not paint well- paint doesn't stick to it. Better to use anthracite parts or silver parts.

I noticed on the 2005s the anthracite now has silver down tubes and arm rest bars in the doors. The shifter ring and cup holders are silver too. At least that whats on the Miniusa site under the build your own Cooper S. I really like the two colors together. If it had been like that in 04 I wouldn't have gotten the Alloy Patina.

I'm interested in the athracite dash. How are the parts held in place and how do you pull the dash without damage?

The three piece dash fits only the '05 MINI while the 5 piece dash fits the '02 to '04 MINIs.

Remove the top of the dash covering by taking out two screws from each extreme vertical end of the dash where it meets the doors.

Then remove any mounting screws above or below the dash pieces.
Next pull hard to yank each dash piece out of the dash- there are pressure tabs holding each piece in.

If you buy the replacement dash parts you can study the part and see where the screw points and tabs are before you remove your stock dash parts.
