F55/F56 stiffening up chassis for sunroof creaking
stiffening up chassis for sunroof creaking
my previous f56 had no sunroof and was mostly quiet, say, 3-wheeling up a curb cut. my current sunroof-having f56 creaks pretty loudly in the same situation, and feels much less stiff (though i don’t particularly notice a lack of stiffness in normal driving).
would a simple chassis brace help prevent this type of twisting? any other solutions i might look into?

You can try these

Any others would just lower your ground clearance on the curb cut.
Might be the car is just as stiff, but the sunroof is not an integral part of the roof, and its just that its shifting.
The roof on your old one might have twisted but you didn't know.

@aura-db I had the same issue on my previous MINIs with creaking from the windows and sunroof.
My Service Advisor told me about Gummi-Pflege, I apply it twice a year to all seals around the MINI and haven’t heard a creak since

I have the CravenSpeed braces installed and they make a huge difference with handling/rigidity
Hope this helps and keep us updated -Rich

and interesting! even cheaper and simpler than a brace…i think i will give this gummi stuff a try! thanks!
I had a very similar problem with my F55. It was caused by a defective sunroof cassette frame. It took me total 4 dealer visits to get it resolved. You can tried the felt tape around the sun shade trim. If that doesn't help, you might need to replace the sunroof cassette frame as I did. At the time, the creaking sound made me feel that the car was not as stiff as my F56 without the sunroof.

wow, good to know. this same creaking is pretty much the reason my dad gave up on his 2008 clubman years ago…i wonder if that was just a similarly easy warranty fix after all!

Yes this stuff works and is used on seals and window gaskets. Its cheaper through autosol if you like linked here.
MINI Dealers use the stuff all the time for noises.
