I'm thinking about adding a CAI to my 2023 JCW Convertible. Lots of options out there (NM Eng / Eventuri, etc), but looking for some feedback from those have have done an install.
I did the CTS Turbo intake. Very nice unit - well made, perfect fitment. Attaches to the OEM lower box. Welds are very nicely done. The louvered vents let you hear the induction noises without being too "in-your-face" - nice flutter & growls. Took it out for a spin today. Cold & raining. It's 47F here in Hartford, 52F in Milford. IATs ran +7 to +10 vs outside temp. That's not too bad of an increase - granted, it's pretty cool/cold out, but those are good temps. We'll see what happens when it's warmer out, but a similar CAI (with a fully open filter) on my M2 reads +8 to +13 in warmer temps & those results were better than stock. I do not have stock IATs on the Mini, but I'll post more readings as temps warm up here
It’s great looking but you’re going to spend almost $2000 to get about 3 hp I would invest the money somewhere else
Worth more than 3HP. There is also the induction/turbo sounds you get with a decent CAI. And which CAI are you looking at that is $2000? I know Eventuri is $1450, but it also converts the non-functioning hood scoop into a functioning one, so there is more to it than just "3 hp".
Well not according to the website, the numbers they shadow are with a stage 1 installed….so what is the difference between using the hood scoop and 2 tubes or using the factory 2 tubes going through that big old grill…I read the small print..it is awesome looking but in my opinion a lot of money for minimal gain..

Cause its small print is still more than 3HP. Also, using the Interwebs you'll find testimony from others about the HP gains in different makes and models.
I can get behind your reluctance at the cost, but wildly under reporting HP figures without checking multiple sources doesn't help anyone. Research is always key in any decision.
Lastly, I have it fitted to my car and I noticed an immediate change in throttle response and in performance. 3HP wouldn't do that.
I think the biggest gain from an intake is opening the small OEM transition from the fresh air duct to the filter box. That transition hole is tiny! I see that as the major bottleneck in the OEM intake. Any intake that increases that opening, or removes it all together is likely to make the engine feel much better.
Eventuri is great looking but paying over $1500 for a gain of 3 hp seems a bit stupid to me. If you look at their page, you have to read the small print the claimed horsepower that they say of over 20 is with a stage one kit.
I am also planning on getting an intake, and although I do not have personal experience with it yet, I am a chronic over thinker and must research every detail of something like this before I buy it. Here are my thoughts, based on the stupid number of hours I have put into researching upgrades for my F56. As far as performance goes, the job of the intake is to provide the engine with lots of cold air. From what I have gathered the biggest restriction on the intake is the ducting coming from in front of the radiator to the airbox. So, in order to provide the engine with more air the intake must get it from somewhere other than the stock intake duct. Most of the aftermarket intakes are open to the engine compartment, so they can provide the engine with more air, but it is hot air. The only 2 that seem to provide cold air are Eventuri and Dinan.
Eventuri does this by making the scoop functional. The downside is it is very expensive compared to other intakes. Dinan does this by being closed except for 2 openings. One opening for the stock duct, and another on the left side which pulls air from the left fender area.
I did not include Leap in this, because although they make kits to make your hood scoop functional, it does not replace the filter or the air box. The Leap kits can be coupled with most other intake systems (except for Eventuri) to make them more efficient.
These are the things I have been considering as I decide what intake to get, hopefully they will help you make your decision…and if I am wrong on some of these facts, I am sure someone will be more than happy to let me know, and maybe that will help us both.
Just curious how using 2 vent scoops through the hood scoop can get any more than two vents to the big grill. Stage two kit adds to between 15 and 40 hp some even more, so trying to figure out how everybody thinks this eventuri is giving him such a gain.. it is an incredible looking air intake system and probably adds to the sound but you’re spending $$$$$$ and minimal horsepower there has to be better choices for a lot less money.. the information below is from the Eventuri website.
Performance Increase Cooper S: 8-15hp, 15-25ft-lb Performance Increase Cooper JCW: 15-27hp, 20-26ft-lb* V-Box Acceleration Cooper S : 60-130mph Reduced By 0.6 Seconds
* The JCW tested had a stage 2 map and downpipe. Performance gains measured with these modifications fitted for both stock airbox and Eventuri.

I have those exact same sounds with a $50 drop in K&N filter and I guarantee that there is virtually no additional power increase from just the Eventuri intake over a drop in filter.
