i decided to use my day off wisely...

by taking 35lbs out of the rear of my MINI RSR.

i decided to replace the 35lb stock unit with the 21lb PC680 from oddessy.
(less 14lbs)

the old battery box, sheild, and heat baffle weighed in at approx. 20lbs

the location of the drycell couldnt be better as it is centered and conveniently and held snugly by the backseat brackets. tommorrow ill begin fabricating the cover for the hole in the back and ill make a bracket to further hold the battery from moving.

but you take out that weight, but you install a heavy sub?

The sub and false floor are easily removable for any driving event....sam has it all planned out

the mini rsr is looking great

 

priorities.... bass is of high importance.


the sub enclosure somes out in 10 min.


the whole thing is still 28lbs lighter than having the backseats there
plus its centered and the design allows for maximum storage capacity.

 

Are you planning on a straight through exhuast??? If not, why did you decide to cut out the battery box? Even though you saved alot of weight by going to the oddessy, don't you think it would have been best to keep the weight as low as possible and down in the old battery box for lower CG?

Definitely brave for cutting out the battery box.

 

Big for the brass ones you have in cutting out the battery box! I always wondered what that would look like!

Not sure about removing wieght from the back of a Mini as it's already so unbalanced.
These batteries are pretty nice.

 

ive noticed what seems to be increased turn-in speeds


lightening the back end has made it whip around quite nicely.

lightening the front shall prove very interesting.

 

Yah, lightening the back does seem to help with turn in a bit...i also havent stiffened my rear sway to max since i removed all the weight, so that may change things as well.

Removing weight from the front isnt going to be as easy. Racing seats are in the near future, but thats not a ton of weight. What are you thinking for the front of RSR?
