Rear Wiper Washer Failure

Getting an "out of washer fluid" message but the bottle is full. Front works but the rear washer for the rear wipers doesn't. Repair shop I had look at it recommends to replace the entire assembly, as they state it's the only way to get the washer pump, which they believe is the issue. Anyone ever have this problem? I see I can order the pump from ECS or even RockAuto for anywhere from $22 to $75. Tempted to order the cheapo RockAuto pump and replace it myself to see if it's the problem. Thoughts?

We can get it and help you. On the pumps they leak themselves or the gasket, They leak and cannot build pressure, happens on the older MINIs also.

Just make sure it matches on other sites as its the wild west of car parts and the sites are not really built by MINI people who own the cars and know the models. The data they use most of the time crosses over models. Like mixing Gen 1 MINI with Gen 2s and gen 2s with gen 3 MINIs.

You can get an aftermarket, done it with my Daughters BMW, they last just as long.
The same pump does front and rear, so it might be the pump, or a clogged line or jet.
The Vemo brand is good.

OH, BTW, If you go to the dealer, your invoice will be for a reservoir, AND a pump.
Reservoirs DO NOT come with a pump!!!!

Looking at what they mechanic wrote, he's saying it's the level that is bad. Pump is working as it is sending fluid to the front, not the back. Apparently, the level is contained in the reservoir, so you have to order a reservoir to replace the level. Shop wanted $300+ to do this exercise and then more diagnostic if it didn't fix problem! I'm going to order Vemo pump from RockAuto ($11.40) and source a new reservoir from BMW ($75-$85) and do it myself....hopefully this will fix it.....

You’re correct 3rd gen sensors are part of the reservoir.
looks like the rear washer gets disabled when it sees low fluid.
