LED retrofit headlight

Hopefully this weekend I will be installing this on my F55 halogen headlights.

3” Bi-LED Projectors with Morimoto Bullet shrouds.

Nice beam pattern... What bulbs and ballasts are you using?

Very nice! The halogens are actually decent for reflectors but there’s no comparison to a good projector.

This is exactly what I’ve been considering doing, only likely with bixenon vs LED.

How bad were the lenses to get off? I’ve heard they’re permasealed but it looks like you were able to remove them very cleanly.

If those are bi-LED, then the LEDs are built into the unit. The MLED 2.0 are actually some phenomenal pieces of kit.

I wonder if I can fit a proper koito biled in here….

I have to admit they were a pain in the @$$ to remove the clear lens, I used a variety of plastic trim removers and my heat gun. As you can see is doable but not easy at all.

Sorry.. I missed the LED part of the post...Duh.

Helpful video .... I've used my oven set on 250˚ ... convection seems to work best but not necessary.

This would work if they sealed the headlights with butyl, unfortunately Mini uses permaseal does not turns soft whe heat is applied. I had to use a heat gun and plastic tools to scrape and bend the back of the headlight.

MINI must have changed from the R56 HL's I opened up.... those had Butyl.

Maybe this stuff could help ??
