2B64 CEL on 2010 N14 with NEW valve cover - HELP!!

I just bought a 2010 MCS (Camden) with 91k. I changed my valve cover looking at my chain and guides and because the front main seal was leaking got on my belt and spun it. Main seal was possibly due to PCV so I was told which is the other reason why I changed it. Good news is that the chain and guides were changed recently as the guides were still white and the chain silver not red-ish. Bad news is that after a flawless 25-30mi I started the car for the 6th time and at the end of the trip it started making this sound at the oil cap and CEL code 2B64. After you turn off the car you can hear it equalize and only then can you remove the oil cap. I tried the old cap and it did not make the sound but still threw a CEL. I checked everything I knew to check or moved/removed. I removed the dip stick and it started to stall out. I changed the oil 2 days before the cover change and I also removed the air filter to inspect it and nothing after all that. The air cleaner housing on the intake manifold is a little loose. Oil not over filled, but about 3mm above the bottom of the top bulb on the stick. I called ECS where I got the cover already. What should I check or do?

I hear that the orange valve flap on the underside of the cover may have come off.

ok, you found it? First time i have seen one fall out. I replaced my cover twice with the Genuine MINI one before I got the aftermarket one on my car. Both Genuine MINI one cracked and leaked in the middle of the valve cover and i got that leak sound.

Most of the time people forget to replace and add the little plug on the back, you can see it on its own in the pic. Red Pull tab is just a dust cover taht gets removed.. Just reach out to our CS team or call them and they can get you a new cover out. If you find it missing or damaged.

Thanks for the reply!! I did call and they said I would have an email or call today. There was no replacement plug (but website said it did) with this $119 model below so I used the old one. I will wait for a call or email before I pull this one off.

Yes,

You should have that black plug on the back, not red pull plug once installed. Yes you can reuse the old one and make sure it seals, if it does not you will get that stumble and whistle from the back.

I loosened and again properly re-torqued all the bolts. This noise is from the diaphragm area. I pulled the plug while it was not making the noise (sometimes it stops) and no change. Still stumbles but was smooth and solid until this noise.

Ok, might just be a bad unit/or diaphragm might not be seated. I have seen that on the OEM MINI one.
