Sunroof issue: wind noise + leak

Hello everyone!
I have a 2010 Mini Cooper S, 30,000 miles, 6 speed.

It has the double glass panoramic roof. I can pop them open or slide back the first section. I'm having some trouble though.

Two issues:

1. Wind noise - with the sunroof fully closed I hear wind noise coming from where the sunroof glass meets the roof. This happens every time I drive the car and exceed 50 mph. It sounds like wind blowing. I had another mini Cooper S it was a 2011 hard top, no sunroof, and it did not have this noise.

2. Water leak - a couple of months ago on a very rainy day I found water drops on the front seats and water dripping from the inside of the sunroof glass. This water was on the front glass panel only. It was on the side of where the glass meets the car (see photos attached). A second time I found a small amount of water in the same place on a less rainy day. Some rainy days I have not found any water.

My dad and sister both have bmws with glass sunroofs. Their sunroofs when closed sit in a manner where the glass is clearly below the roof/body of the car. When I close my sunroof it is several millimeters lifted at the front, particularly the driver's side (I believe this side had more water too).

The sunroof opens and closes fully with no problem.

Sorry for the long post. I wanted to share all the information I had. I love my car a lot and don't want water to ruin it. It's a beautiful car in excellent condition.

I would appreciate if anyone has any advice. What could be causing these issues? Has anyone resolved these issues and how so? is there an adjustment for the glass to make it sit lower? Is there a seal that needs replacement?

Thank you!

Has the sunroof always been raised by a few milimetres when closed? How does the front edge of the front glass sit when the sunroof is on tilt only (i.e. both glass panels lifted at the back)?

Given the reports on failed or failing sunroofs here and on other Mini forums, I wouldn't be using it until the issue is resolved.

Both glass panels of my 2010 R56 LCI sit flush when closed and I haven't noticed neither water intrusion nor wind noise so far.

When the sunroof is closed, the front edge of the front pane should be slightly below the body. The rear edge of the front pane should be slightly below the front pane. There's specs for all of them in the service manual somewhere and if you don't get them right you'll get wind noise.

I would start by verifying your wind deflector at the front is properly seated and not blocking sunroof movement. Then do a sunroof calibration procedure (can't recall where I found it but this video seems to have the method:
). If that's all good, you may need to physically adjust the height of the panels to match factory spec.

Beyond the roof not being adjusted properly, the water leak could be plugged drains. There are two drains at the front and two at the rear, and they can get plugged up. Do a search and you'll find details.

Thanks for the response guys. Ive never had a car with a sunroof before so I did some research into adjustment.

I found 3 screws under the glass on each side (see photo).

With the sunroof closed, I loosened each screw. Then I had someone apply pressure from the top. I then retightened all the screws. I did one side at a time.

I drove the car and no more wind noise at 50mph.
I will have to wait until winter time to see if it leaks. I'm pretty confident it won't. I also checked the drains they are clear.

Thanks guys!
