I am thinking about buying a 2011 Mini Clubman S (ice blue) and since this is my first Mini, I am looking for a little advice.
Transmission: automatic
Mileage: 100,300 miles
Price: $6900
The Clubman seems to be rust free as it lived most of its life in the southern US. I looked at it yesterday and drove it. I did not notice any timing chain rattle on start up or any smoke from the exhaust. I did note some oil residue on the right side of the turbo.
I test drove it and it drove great! Nice and tight and smooth and no remarkable suspension or other issues I noticed. Control arms and suspension seem tight and in good shape.
Paint has chips and staches, but not horrible and body seams all seem to line up, no accidents on the carfax report.
Before the test drive the dash was free of any warning lamps etc, but after the test drive I noticed the "oil can" lamp on the tachometer. I wondered if it was a simple maintenance due indicator light? Not knowing squat about Mini's I read the manual and it said oil pressure low. So then I thought this could lead to a catastrophic engine failure issue. I checked the oil and it did seem to be low, but the engine was warm and the oil probably had not fully settled.
So now I dont know what to do on this car. Good deal? Run and dont look back?
Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
