My new 2011 MINI Clubman non-S- Intro & some questions

Hi all,

Here's my new 2011 MINI Clubman non-S AT. She was purchased CPO'd with 35K miles. I came from an 05 BMW E46 ZHP after 7 years and 100K miles with that car. So sticking with the BMW line of cars.

I was just curious if there were any important maintenance items I should be worried about.

From reading the forums, these seem to be the main items to keep an eye on.
  1. Carbon build up- prevented by shorter oil changes.
  2. Timing chain tensioner rattling- occurs mostly on S models but something to keep an eye on.
  3. AT trans- every 2-3 years get the transmission service done.
Thanks in advance,

AV98

Congratulations on getting your Clubman!

We have one and my wife loves it a lot.

Keep your eye on the oil and have fun with your car.

Thanks! I've been doing that, I read about the low oil issues on this forum.

I'm also debating if I should swap my 15x7 ET38 Kosei K1 TS rims onto the car with 205/50/15 tires; not sure about the clearance since it doesn't match up with what tires.com or tirerack recommends (195/55/15). Will this work?

same color as my wifes hardtop , get some silver stripes and it will pop. Love my clubman , aint letting go of it.

And don't pop the back door without knowing what's behind you

And some window tint will look good.

I'm not sure about the tires - ours came with 17's, but they are 205's and they don't rub.

Congrats. Great color. I agree with the effect of both the stripes and the tint.

Now to find a good tint place in the San Jose, CA area. Any suggestions?

Another weird question, do people with sunroofs tint theirs?

I don’t think sunroof tint is necessary. I live in the south (Memphis TN) and I was planning to get Limo tint on the roof when I was going to get the windows done. People on this discussion board seem to somewhat reliably endorse tinting the sunroof.

My wonderful wife beat me to the punch and got the windows tinted as a gift. Since I had not mentioned the sunroof, she did not get the sunroof tinted. Now I am glad that I didn't. The factory tint on the roof seems to do the job in keeping the heat out. I see no need to darken the sunroof.

Thanks in advance,
Carbon - Non issue on the Non S models Timing Chain - Also a Non issue. AT - Good idea, personally I do trans services at 30K or 40K.

Are you sure you have the right rim diameter? I'm running 205/55/16's. I checked tirerack and they list 175/65/15 for OE size.

Tirerack lists tire diameters under "specs", manufacturers post this information as well. At least in my experience. The original tires on my clubman were about 24.4" IIRC (195/55/16), the new ones (205/55/16) are 28.8". I've run 205/55/16 for 20k miles and I have yet to experience any rubbing issues. Even when I rotated my tires I didn't notice anything.

I should have clarified non-stock tire sizes but more max size tires that would work w/o fitment issues.

Planning on getting my Clubman done here. Rocky Mountain Tint

One of my good friends has all of his cars done here and even the yelp reviews are glowing. It's a little drive from SJ, but from what I can tell and have heard from first hand, well worth the trip.
