What's the status of the F56 tuning game currently?
Used to be active with my old 2009 mini, but then it got totalled and I got a 2015 Cooper S as a replacement.
My old mini had a tune on it, and now that I am over 100,000 miles and well off my warranty... Man I want to get the rush back.
So any of you who have stayed active on here, what's the status of ECU tubes out there. Preferably I need a level 1 tune that keeps me a good eco mode but also really ups the sport mode's game. Who are the top tuners right now?

I'm happy with the tune I have from Bytetronik, but if I was looking right now, I would probably get Bootmod3 and a custom tune. Seems fairly simple to change between tunes, and you could have the tuner adjust some options- pops, sport mode, for example. No idea who the good tuners to use are, or how to find them. There's a thread somewhere on here about it.
It's only been a month or so but I'm pretty happy with BM3 tune. Fairly nice gain from my factory JCW tune that dealer installed from exhaust purchase.
They've known/proven in BMW world for a while so I trust reliability. And the fact that I can switch tunes with my phone is very convenient factor prior dealer visit.
Can't speak for any other brands but I'm happy with BM3 and nothing to remove under the hood or visit a local shop to detune for dealership visit.

Hit up @MarioKart for a tune. He's amazing to work with, the tunes are awesome, and there's a very, very long thread on this site filled with praise for him and his products. I know I'm very happy with his tune in my F57.
Another satisfied customer for a DervTech Stage 1 tune. It's been a couple of months now and now problems at all. Coming from the NM Module to Stage 1, what a difference. This should have been how the factory delivers a JCW.

I have enjoyed my BM3 tune. It gives lots of power and I have had no issues since I tuned June last year. I tuned using my laptop rather than a phone as @isugoo spoke on, but it was easy nonetheless.
If you purchase a BM3 tune, you can tune a Stage 1 91 octane or 93 octane map and drive it around to see if you like the driving modes. If you want to make modifications, you then just reach out to one of the custom tuners listed though the BM3 software. I am assuming they will charge a little, but you will already own the BM3 software to tune from home.
See my review using the link below! I touched on what I thought of the driving modes.

I had a Bytronik ECU tune installed on my 1.5 Cooper Convertible, and it provided some great extra performance. I loved it. Unfortunately, my car went to the dealer for a defective part, and as part of the service they upgraded the ECU software to the latest version, wiping out the BT mod. I was hoping to reinstall BT, but the new ECU software wasn't compatible. Bytronik staff were response and very helpful.
Why'd you get a three-banger in the first place? Easy, it's lighter overall, with most of the weight savings over the front axle, and it sounds better (more unique) than the 4-cylinder! I love my Cooper and with a @MarioKart tune it's really alive now! Sounds really great with my Remus aftermarket exhaust, too, especially the pops and burbles on deceleration. So fun!!
A little warning: your fuel economy will take a dump because of a heavy right foot 😉
I also have the AWE S-flo intake, and it also makes fun sounds.

my F-56 got JCW tune from factory but got sent to Renn Haus of Sarasota (they do all the Italian jobbers) It dyno'd at 300flhp or 247 @ wheel & 350 ft./lb.s Torque. before I bought it,.The only problem I noticed was CEL from downstream oxygen sensor. MarioKart sold me a DP that is Aces so far, and I hear nothing but good things about him.. One thing I'm curious about, how do you rate a 300hp tune ? it's NOT a Stage 1 !

That being said, if you have an intake, exhaust, bigger intercooler, cat less down pipe, and a tune, I would lump that into the Stage 2 bucket. Stage 1 would be everything with OEM down pipe. Stage 3 and up implies upgraded turbo.
“Stage” tunes are just a way of lumping your mods into a bucket. They don’t really mean too much.

If you are still running the OEM turbocharger then I would consider it "Stage 2", regardless if you are tuned or not. If you are running new turbocharger hardware, then I would consider it "Stage 3". But again, Its just words. List your mods, and let people think what they want.
get in touch with @Lou@Prototype-R He can work wonders with your ECU calibration.
