i have been rebuilding a 2012 R56 flood car. Due to the youngest step daughter liking to mess with things i locked the car and put the FOB in my keybox late last summer. So the battery has died and now i am unable to get into the car using the FOB. The Steel key is not in the FOB so i'm pretty sure it is locked in the car... I'm am currently charging the FOB battery just to make sure (don't ask how its rigged lol). The hood is open
The current situation is this. I can press the unlock and hear something make some noise under the hood but the doors will not unlock. Short of breaking into the damn thing by trying to fish my way in to the lock or the handle, is there anything else i can do? I'm really starting to hate this car.

Are you sure it’s the fob and not some random electrical fault in the car due to the flooding? If you hit the fob button and hear the car respond, that would tell me it’s sending a signal….

after I typed my first post I'm not so sure it just wasn't normal noises from hooking up a different battery/charger as i couldn't get it to do it again. the car is almost done and everything has been replaced. It was flooded in the spring of 2018. I actually drove it a few miles before i ran out of time last summer to work on it and then parked and locked it. I had a tender on it but it got unhooked.
my initial charging attempt on the FOB failed as the electrical tape let go, so attempt #2 is underway as I type. The battery in the FOB last night was 2.16v
Not saying that maybe the receiver by the mirror stopped working. That is a possibility.

Update. I got in on the first try this morning with a wire coat hanger by the inside door handle. Maybe it wasn't happy with the key fob since it was dead I donno. I have the car running now with the FOB in the tray. As long as it runs so I can finish it I will deal with it being a FOB issue later if that's what it turns out to be.
Before Getting into the car i held the FOB next to my TinySA (spectrum analyzer) and I couldn't pick up any output from the transmitter when the button was pushed.
