F55/F56 100 miles on my 2022 Oxford edition - what I think so far
100 miles on my 2022 Oxford edition - what I think so far
I now have about 100 miles on my 2022 Oxford edition two-door 6-speed manual and here are some of my observations. I knew about some of these bullet points prior to delivery thanks to the MINI forums, reviews, etc.

The exterior mirrors are fairly large for good visibility and visibility from the driver's seat through the windows is good, too.
The fit and finish seem to be of very high quality. I also like the textures used in the interior.
The base interior feels more upscale than some other model car's base interiors.
The base seats are comfortable for 5'11" / 210 lb me although I would like just a touch more thigh support.
The front seats are easy to get in and out of.
Fuel economy per the computer has been great so far - nearly 31 mpg in 80% city/20% highway driving.
It has a pretty smooth gearbox and it's very easy to shift smoothly. I've owned better but this one is still good even though it's not broken in yet.
The 3-cylinder engine is smooth for a three-banger and has an interesting growl to it.
The base, non-Harmon-Kardon audio system is pretty good for a base system and I have no real complaints about it. When I want to do serious music listening I listen on my home audio rig so not having a higher-end car system is not a big deal for me.
The rear camera display in the head unit is really clear and sharp.
When I shut off the engine with the seat heater(s) turned on they come on when the engine is started next.
There is lots of front-seat legroom and the car is way more comfortable than a 2017 Miata Club that I had owned.
For a short wheelbase car, the ride isn't bad, considering, but I am curious how it rides without the run-flat tires.
I really like the feel of the steering wheel.
There are lots of choices of where to direct airflow from the HVAC system.
The rear defroster and exterior mirror heaters work well.
It's not as powerful as the S or JCW cars so I'm less likely to do stupid things with my right foot.

No Android Auto or Apple Car Play standard. Android Auto isn't offered in any trim which I find absurd in this day and age. My last two daily-driver Chevy Colorado pickups had it standard.
The auto-stop/start defeat switch must be pressed to not auto-stop after every engine start. Since it is to the left of the start switch I've now learned to just flip it right after engine start to turn it off.
My gloss black Tentacle spoke wheels have silver/light gray valve stems and caps.
The car has run-flats and no spare or jack kit even though there is room for both.
The boot/trunk floor pan has been changed - it no longer has the D-shaped hole at the bottom of the jack kit storage space to permit the installation of the under-car spare tire storage carrier.
Having to spend $400 for a mounted donut spare and jack kit on a brand new car for a little peace of mind sucks. Having to strap that new spare tire down in the back sucks, too. At least the jack kit fits in its proper place.
The temperature gauge is located at the center bottom of the digital display and is toggled via a button at the end of the turn signal stalk. The gauge is small and obscured by the center of the steering wheel and I can't see it without stretching my neck and leaning forward a little when the steering wheel is set where it's comfortable. The toggle switch toggles between odometer, trip meter, temperature and a couple of other things so it's an all-or-nothing kind of deal, too. I wish the temperature display was more prominent as there seems to be room in the digital display.
Lane keep assist is standard but I don't usually have any trouble keeping a vehicle in its lane and I think that blind-spot detection would have made more sense to make standard instead.
I'm finding that heel and toe throttle blips are difficult to accomplish without accidentally pressing too hard on the brake. I'm not sure if it's my shoes or the pedal placement but heel and toeing is something that I never had to think about too much in other manual transmission vehicles that I've owned or driven.
The lower-front grille intake directly in front of the intercooler is wide open with no honeycomb or screen or anything to protect the intercooler and a portion of the radiator from rocks and other road debris. I think that I'm going to have to fab up some stainless steel screens to cover the openings.
Because the Oxford edition does not come with an anti-theft system there is no horn confirmation when locking the doors with the key fob and it's hard to hear the locks click so I find myself double-checking whether or not it's locked.
The buttons on the key fob are not as precise as on my Chevy Colorado pickup fob. I don't think that I could operate the MINI fob if I was wearing gloves.
No engine oil dipstick.
Run-flat tires are the only tire that's available.
Having to replace run-flat tires with conventional tires on a brand new car.
---
That's all that I can think of right now. If something else pops into my head I'll update this thread, otherwise, I'll plan on doing a 1k mile update down the road.

I live in the Detroit area and I'm only a few miles from Detroit Tuned who can handle some of my service needs during my factory no charge maintenance period and all my service needs in the future after the factory warranty expires.
The front seating area feels spacious for such a small car and does not feel claustrophobic at all. My wife even commented about how much legroom there was on the passenger side and there is lots of headroom without the sunroof.
The anthracite headliner looks great and would be a must on any future MINI that I was to order.
There is lots of aftermarket and MINI support for wheels, brakes, suspension and styling parts.
The headlight beam pattern is great and they are nice and bright.
I found that my car also has cornering lights so that when the headlights are on and I'm making a turn the inside of the corner that I'm turning into is lit.
Throttle tip-in is smooth and linear making it easy to get going off the line. My wife's Subaru Outback has a really notchy or stepped feel at tip-in and this car is so much better.
I haven't noticed any fingerprints on the round center display.

I wish the Storage Package came standard as it includes several tiedown points where bungees or straps can be secured plus it's adjustable so the load floor to the back of the folded seats can be flat. Because it is a hatchback and is open back to the rear storage area, being able to secure heavy things - like the donut spare I noted earlier in the thread - is important in the event of an accident.
Not that I will use them all that much but the graphic images associated with the switches for interior lighting mounted above the interior rearview mirror are really difficult to read. Over time I'll remember which switch controls what but at the moment it's not easy to see.

While I do have a lot of bullets on my dislikes list the big question is, do I have any regrets about purchasing this car? The answer is NO. Could MINI reduce the number of my dislikes by making changes? Sure, but it's still a fun car so far and I don't see many others on the road here in the Detroit area. There is nothing on the list that would prevent me from purchasing the car again if I had a do-over but I have eliminated cars in the past because of the lack of Android Auto. There are enough 'likes' to offset the lack of AA for me.

Excellent review! Thanks for taking the time to write that up! I’m on the verge of putting down a deposit on a 4dr Oxford. Just waiting for the dealer to get an allocation, which they say should be this week.
I agree - it would be nice to be able to have Apple Car Play available. (Or Android, if that’s your thing)
On the tires, did you get all season or summer? I’m going to option the summer tires, and get a separate set of winter wheels / tires later.

On my 2022 model, auto-stop can be turned off by pressing the auto-stop off switch as the owner manual made no mention of a 10-second hold to turn it off. I've also read on this forum that it can be set to auto-stop off as the default with coding.

Mine are Pirelli Cinturato P7 run-flats and even on rough Detroit area roads don't ride too badly but I will be replacing them with non-run-flats. I like the black Tentacle spoke wheels that came on the car so I'm debating whether to go with stock-sized 205/45x17 non-run-flat ultra-high-performance all-seasons or go with a 195/55x16 or 205/50x16 on new wheels. In hindsight given that this is just a fun car for weekend trips and such I probably should have ordered the all-seasons to extend the driving time into colder weather.
BTW, I won't be driving the car over the winter - it will be stored - so no need for winter tires for me. But we've been using winter tires mounted on separate wheels since 2000 on our daily drivers and that's definitely the way to go.
I spec'ed mine with the summer performance tires and it was delivered with them, unlike another member on here who, IIRC, spec'ed the performance tires and ended up with the all-seasons.

The real-time speed limit sign next to the speedometer is pretty cool and is a feature that I use all the time.
The digital speedometer is great, too. Interestingly, back in the '80s or '90s when digital speedometers were coming of age I couldn't stand those things. Now I really like 'em as they are so much easier to read at a glance than those old-fashioned dial style speedos.
I'm going to mention the base front seats again as they are super comfortable without any side bolster squeeze effects that I've encountered in other cars with sport seats.
I thought that knowing that the pano sunroof was available and I didn't get it would bug me but I really don't miss it. I also don't miss the automatic that would have been required in order to get the sunroof in the Oxford. And now I'm not sure that I'd order the sunroof in the future if I decide to purchase another MINI down the road.
The car is really pretty quiet on the highway with the windows up and tolerable with the windows partially open.
I have found that it's easy to exceed the speed limit when getting on the freeway without really trying. I'm still breaking in the drivetrain and with only a couple of hundred miles on the odometer I haven't experienced full throttle yet but I've found myself easily exceeding 75 mph at times. The sense of speed must be more muted than I'm used to because all of a sudden I realize I'm going too fast. I ended up setting the speed warning feature to alert me at 75 mph and higher and it works great.
Dislikes -
I still dislike the placement of the temperature gauge and how it's buried in a menu with five or six other reads but I'm learning to live with it.
Not having Android Auto really bugs me!

I agree on the speedometer and sunroof comments.
My other car has a digital AND analog speedometer. I almost never look at the analog gauge.
I also have had lots of cars with a sunroof in the past and find that I rarely use it. Also, it often comes at the cost of headroom. Better off without it!

MOSTMAN99: If I were you I'd find another dealer and if you don't have another nearby, go back and see them with the info from the link TVPOSTSOUND provided. However, if they pull crap like that they pretty much suck and will probably continue to suck with any transaction. However, it could be the sales rep you got, too, so you could try another or contact the sales manager or GM directly and ask them about financing Oxford's.
The run-flat tires are perfectly fine and there is no reason to replace them with non-run flats. These are not the same hockey puck hard tires from 20 years ago, the technology has improved tremendously and they are much better than they were before.
Hey Guys , I ordered a Countryman S all4 basic . Before order we had deal with dealer about 1.9 apr for 60 months. Sales person sent me an email and informed that mini finance already pre approved for my application.
Almost 30 days later Dealer sent me a letter about rejection of my application, actually nothing changed on my financial situation and i paid them deposit. So what i have do it? Does anybody have suggestion ?

Pre-approved doesn't mean much in the car world. They say that to everybody to get you to come in and buy a car. What is your credit score? Does it warrant a 1.9 APR for 60 months? You can always shop around for a loan from a credit union or bank if you are not happy with Mini finance.
I have an 800 credit score and the best Mini Finance would do for me was 3.49% which was fine by me.

Michaelo, it's a bit of a gimmick because the salesperson told me via email that you've been pre-approved and your credit score won't be rechecked, so you can continue with the process. It's just a dirty marketing ploy or just lying. I will ask for the money back. Also, 8 months ago, when my credit score was 739 and I was taking a second car loan, vw credit gave me a loan of 2.49% for 75 months. Now my credit score is 770 and I have only one vehicle, I closed the other vehicle loan. So I'm just trying to say that the situation is not fair or right.
Have you actually talked to them? Sometimes they'll pull credit while you have it frozen and send you a rejection letter immediately even if they pull it that same day while it's unfrozen.
Today i talked them and yes you are right , sales person send me below email;
Disregard that letter as you have not taken delivery yet and the system generated that letter since it's ben 30 days from your application. You are approved with MINI Financial. Thanks and let me know if you had any questions.
I'm sorry to keep you busy but maybe one of you will get a letter like this during the purchase and if he panics like me he can read it here.

And thanks for the like / dislike lists! Those are some good lists to consider for dealer add-ons, esp as my JCW got ordered a month and a half ago and still doesn't have a production number....
If you have a manual trans the engine auto-stop is a real pain. The shut off worked for me...I guess from the previous post it worked for you also
I sure second the no oil dipstick issue. I guess I'm old fashion but I really would like to check it every now and then.
I bought mine used so didn't get to pick all the options that I would like.
Find it strange the options that were on the cars I looked at.
I have fancy 17" wheels, heated seats, some exterior package, upgraded sound system, but naugahyde seats,
Also don't have whatever package allows you to program your garage opener into the cars system
