A couple of questions for those that are running one of these in their car. Where and how are you mounting it in the car? Which are you using OBD2 or CAN connection? If using CAN where are you splicing into the wiring? Aim suggests right behind the tach on the steering column, just wondering if those wires are more easily accessed further down under the dash if available? Also anyone have pictures of their install? Thanks!
I have a 2021 GP3 and I'm not sure which Mini you have, so this info might or might not apply to you. I have mine mounted on the backside the digital display using a custom kydex bracket (see the attached pics). I have it mounted there because in the GP3, its really difficult to see what gear you're in when at the track. I have the Solo2 setup so that gear is the most prominent bit of info that shows.
As for wiring, I had to use a CAN connection. For some reason, in this car, the Solo2 would not pick up *any* data via OBD2. None. We tapped the CAN connection under the passenger side footwell, because that was the best place to get to the wires. The good news is that with CAN, I get *so much data*!!
