help with value of gen 1 R50 JCW
Hi everyone-
New here, looking for guidance in valuating a 2003 Cooper S with JCW package. Selling for friend as he was told if needed a head gasket and wants out of the car (and does not want to deal with selling privately on his own).
So i agreed to help him sell, and after posting on FB marketplace for $1750, was absolutely flooded with nearly 100 messages in short order. This suggested we priced it too low and took ad down and am trying to come up with a fair price before relisting. I'm a car guy myself and if I had the time and space I would take this care and do the work myself....it's that nice. Not familiar with how the JCW package affects value, so looking for some guidance here.
some specifics:
2nd owner, 103,000 miles. Beautiful original paintwork, garaged whole life, not a spec of rust. Used as "fun" third car and occasional short commutes to work. blue/white roof/white hood stripes/two-tone blue interior. 18" mini alloys. All the original JCW stuff still on car incl exhaust. Have the orig jcw dealer brochure from 2003. Runs/drives/stops very well, maintained very well whole life. started losing coolant and witnessed it in crankcase mixed with oil (hence the head gasket diagnosis). It drives so well that I would personally be surprised it the head is bad. Car has not overheated, have seen water temp climb but nothing to point of overheating the head. This of course does not 100% assure the head is OK. I understand that the head is unique to the JCW and IF bad (which is coin toss) it could be costly to repair but once done this is a very original un-abused example of an early gen 1 mini. No idea where to place value for sale as is. Hoping I can get some good guidance from those who live/breathe these cars.
In fairness to you guys/gals for helping, I'll gladly post here first so the true enthusiasts can have first refusal.
thanks for your time

Just F.Y.I., you have an R53 (supercharged), not an R50. JCW adds value but your head issue negates that. It is probably worth twice what you asked for it ($3,500 if the rest is as nice as you indicate and also what other service it has received) even with the head issue.
