Aftermarket intake sound?

Can those of you that have aftermarket intakes hear them with the windows up? I just installed the AirVIP4 and while it seems like a quality product, I’m disappointed that I can only hear the added sound with the windows down. I miss the swooshing from my R56. Is that just the price of refinement or are others louder? I do hear a bit more turbo noise and the pressure releasing/shuddering sound with the windows down, but up and it’s silent. Thanks!

With the Eventuri you definitely hear it up or down.

The consensus (here and elsewhere) seems to be that everyone hears theirs with the windows up. My theory is either my intake is quieter (not really sure because I removed the lid and it’s then just an open cone and still nothing) or maybe the LCI cars have more sound deadening?

The AWE S-flow, sounds wicked. I've decided to keep my exhaust quite for now because of it. Compleat strangers comment on it regularly (positive commenting).

AWE intake pipe showing a little yellow
My only problem is the yellowing of the carbon on the tube, otherwise it looks nice too.

That looks sweet! Here's mine. I'm still puzzled why mine seems so much quieter than others. I wonder if the LCI cars have either more sound deadening or more intrusive resonators.

Maybe I should mention that the turbo recirculation valve sounds are much more audible when in sport mode. Also adding a DINAN Elite brought up the boost along with the good wooochoochoo sounds. The VIP intake should still supply you with plenty of sound though..

With my Eventuri installed I don't even listen to music anymore, just the sweet sounds of the turbo, windows up or windows down.

Old post sorry, but I love the Eventuri intake! Looks so nice. Only issue is that price haha. It'll probably be the very last thing I do on my 3 Minis. Also, how exactly does it make the hood scoop functional? Any cutting involved or just swap the non functional for the functional scoop?

The kit provides you with a new scoop that is open and for install, you just remove 1 screw and pop off the factory scoop and replace with the one in the kit. I did ceramic coat my scoop just to help with the outdoor elements.

I've got Gruppe M intake paired with JCW kit on 2015 S and sound is very much noticeable.
Out of most intakes I added in my current and previous cars, this one seems one of the loud ones I've owned.
