R55 partially stuck passenger barn door
partially stuck passenger barn door
Hi,
This seems to be a common problem with the barn door since I've seen several posts about it here. My 2010 R55 clubman's passernger side barn door got stuck a few months ago. The driver's side works fine, althought it can't be fully opened as it's hooked to the other one. I managed to pop the passerger-side open with a screw driver a few times, but it stopped working. I can hear the pop sound when I poked the right place and the door open a little bit, but not all the way. It seems to be connected to the driver's side, although I don't understand what exactly got disengaged when I poke. The problem associated with this is that car keeps sensing the barn doors are open when I drive, even when it's fully shut. Both doors will partially pop open after parking it overnight, still connected. I've ordered the part to replace the lock mechanism on the passernger side, but I don't know how to replace it without fully opening the door. Any tips? I'm also thinking just somehow remove the plastic trim and disconnect the lock, so that the sensor won't be triggered every time I accelerate, before I get my replacement lock.
Thanks!
