Standard radio. Turns on. No sound

2009 R56 Boost radio (not HK). Turns on. Display and CD function properly. No sound.

Fuse on back of radio OK. Tried different radio. Same problem. HELP!

It will do that if one of the speaker leads is shorted. Happened to me shortly after replacing speakers. Fixed the short, worked fine.

You nailed it FakeName! Thanks!.

It was a bit of a monster messing with the speaker plug in the footwell to figure out which speaker, if any had a short. I disassembled the plug and removed and plugged in all the speaker wires a set at a time.

I lucked out. It turned out to be the small speaker in the passenger door, which is the easiest speaker to access. I installed a tweeter there previously and it had come loose and must have shorted. I secured it and all is well!

Also, if the fuse on the back of the radio is blown, the display will not light. So if your display lights, but you have no sound, it's not the fuse.
