If you are at all interested in planning any event at the Dragon, please shoot me a PM with your e-mail address so we can discuss it. We are getting in the final planning stages, so if you vaguely think you'd like to do something, please let me know.

All of your requests thus far have been met....ok, the ones you list here.

Still pending is the Exhaust Shootout. We can hope that Greatbear will bless us with his amazing recording setup again, and we can get more exhausts (and more engine revving in) this year!
It'll probably be at Fontana again. The location will have to be pinned down, but last years location in the parking lot behind arts-n-crafts was pretty good! Either Friday or Saturday afternoon-ish.

Just as a precautionary concern - we do NOT want to over-plan this event and turn it into a militaristically-timed event. I, among many, am there primarily to relax and enjoy myself, the serene wilderness and beautiful mountains, and not to drag the hustle-n-bustle of city life along with me.
I'd say a couple (as in 2, 3 max) events per day is the reasonable limit. I also wouldn't expect everyone to be at all events. I definitely don't want to leave Deals Gap more tired than when I got there. Last October when just a handful of us were there (ok, about 25), we all had a wonderful time, with nothing planned whatsoever. It was the most fun I've had there to date.
So, Keep it simple, loose, and relaxed.

I know myself I will not go to more than two events a day, as I do want to relax some, want to drive the road (many times), and other roads in the area, take photo's, a cook out one night, some late night drinking at the party cabin with the whole Michigan mini crew and dragon slayers. And see some old friends I only get to see once a year or so. Some plans are nice, but simple is nice. Deals gap is rustic, so it fits. I had a whole morning last year sitting on the porch of our cabin last year jut watching minis drive by!

In October I took a really neat ride along the Cherohola Skyway, not as twisty as the Dragon, but lots of photo ops up to 6000' elevation and a more relaxed drive, we then stopped at the water falls at the end for some more pix and continued driving west and north to Tellico plains and had a great lunch at a restaurant along the river called the Bistro (I think), then you continue up North and take a short cut back up and end up at the far end of the Dragon and take the Dragon back to Deals Gap, The whole trip with stops and lunch would be like a half day maybe Friday or Saturday??
Here's a pix at the falls
