Fix or Sell?
Fix or Sell?
hey gang,
my 2010 JCW Cooper has several issues and I'm debating selling. I could use some constructive input
the car has about 100k on it, issues are:
massive oil leak somewhere in the front of the motor, possibly around turbo. i havent torn into it to get more specifics
boost related CE code
suspension bushings are tired
car needs a new driver side door and body work to blend
rear bumper is cracked. both cosmetics are due to new drivers in the house making mistakes
I dropped $4k on clutch and oil lines not too long ago, and its got new tires. The car is stock except a really nice stereo.
I'd love to pull the motor and freshen it up, add smog legal power, and maybe do some custom Gulf blue/orange paint work. i have the means to pull the motor, repair, and paint at home.
I just dont know if its worth it. I LOVE the car but question its reliability for another 100k. i cant think of what I'd get if i sold it.
Fix it or punt?

If you have the means and the time fix it. You would get more if you parted the car than selling whole. As a whole you would probably only get 2-3k maybe. Pull it and save it, fix all the week spots, enjoy another 100k plus miles. Buy the parts from fcpeuro and you get their lifetime warranty, just a thought.
