06 JCW Engine Rebuild

Hello all,
Had two 06 S's before and now I'm thinking of buying an 06 JCW that has been parked for over a year in my neighborhood. Supposedly it was in a minor fender bender and insurance covered replacing the hood, lights and front bumper, the car is pepper white with a slick top and it does not have any frame damage. I'm being told the young girl parked the car after it leaked to much oil and the engine started running poorly. It will start but she says it sounds bad and she doesn't have the money for repairs. I'm thinking worse case scenario that it it will need a full engine rebuild. I'm willing to pull the engine out and hand it over to my mechanic but want to make sure he rebuilds it properly. Is there any difference between the S block and JCW? I know the injectors are a little bigger but what about the valves/springs and pistons. Since the engine will be apart what are good upgrades? Of course adding a few more HP would be nice but reliability is most important and I'm perfectly fine with keeping it stock but maybe add a 15%-17% pulley. Are there any good reputable engine builders in the SF bay area and what costs should I expect abouts? I'm hoping to purchase the car between 1k-.1.5. She won't accept $500! I have been looking for a long time for a pepper white 06 JCW slick top....

The short block and internals are the same as Cooper S. Just a slight difference in the cylinder head with ported/larger exhaust valves for greater volume, and the 380cc injectors.

A PW JCW R53 slicktop is definitely highly desirable. Just be ready for what it’s gonna cost to fix everything else it will inevitably need too.

Jcw 2009

Hello newbie here to this mini world. Not to hijack your thread. So to my understanding N14 are turbos correct?

I have a 09 mini JCW. Cylinder 4 wall scored. Cylinder head is ok. My intention are to find a short block for it. So will I be good with any N14 block just as long as it’s a cooper S? Like it doesn’t have to be Necessarily a JCW block?

ive herd the head is different along with valves. But I figure the bottom end would be the same unless the JCW is built different. I’m new to all this and just want to make sure I buy the correct things. TIA!

Suggest to start a new thread in the 2nd gen JCW section. The 2009 N14 is a 2nd gen car with its own unique motor and challenges. I’m sure you will get better knowledge/feedback in a new thread.

Finally got it.

Alright all, I finally was able to bring this beauty home. After owning two R53's automatics for traffic diving, I wanted something more spirited and got this R53 JCW Pepper white slick top. I'm going to upgrade with coilovers but is it worth upgrading to a 17% pully or is 15% better. I'm very spirited street driving/canyons near my home. Should I install my Way MW 22 sway bar over the stock set up? Also should I keep the stock JCW exhaust or install my Milltek off my old S? If money was not a factor what would be next? I already have wheels/ tires and mishimoto radiator. I want a very spirited fun car thats reliable. I know the two sometimes don't mix. I'm open for any thing, air filter? Coolant tank upgrade? Bigger brake upgrade...thanks in advance.
