More questions about EVO upgrade
Hey all -
A while ago I bought a NBT EVO and had it programmed for my vehicle's VIN. I also bought a 8.8" screen for a more or less complete retrofit (just no handwriting recognition wheel, but it seems that that is not required).
I'm finally getting around to installing it this weekend, but I have some questions.
I've pulled apart my dash and wanted to check the new screen, prior to removing my old computer. All of the cables connect into the new screen fine. When I turn on the radio, the 8.8" screen says "NO SIGNAL", but of course the buttons around the radio still work (my factory preset stations work fine, volume works, etc). Is this normal? I am wondering if I need to code the car to tell that it has a bigger screen, in order for the old head unit to be able to send a proper signal to the screen? Or does this mean that I need a new cable or something?
I just want to be sure that I have a working radio and screen prior to pulling out the old computer and stuffing in the NBT EVO...would be nice to know if verification steps like what I'm doing, are even necessary...
Thanks!

Best,

My 8.8" screen is not a touch screen. My current head unit is a 6.5" screen which IS a touch screen. Would it be normal to see 'no signal' for trying to swap in the 8.8" without doing any coding?
